Karen M Timmons 2019 
Karen Marie Parker Timmons

Karen Marie Parker Timmons, age 68, passed away at Odessa Regional Medical Center on Friday, August 30, 2019.  She was born March 2, 1951 in Carlsbad, NM to Arthur Lee and Nedra Jane (Mitchell) Parker.  Karen had attended Texas Tech and worked as an accountant for B-Line Filter Supply.

A music lover, Karen loved country music (not too loud) and blues.  She was a classy country girl who enjoyed going country and western dancing every weekend and having a few drinks.  She was always dressed to the "9's"  and was an excellent accessorizor.  She loved watching her grandchildren barrel race and they were the light of her life.  Although she didn't really like the outdoors, she took immaculate care of her yard and loved swimming with her friends, Mitchell and Cindy. Everyone loved her and her friends looked to her for wise advice.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her sons: Joshua Timmons and wife Michelle and Daniel Timmons and wife Larissa, all of Odessa; brother:  Allen Parker and wife Kim of Canyon, TX; sister:  Valerie Whitmarsh and husband Clyde of Elizabeth, CO; lifelong friends:  Cindy Brown and Mitchell Arnold, both of Odessa; aunt:  Marilynn Mitchell of Lubbock, TX; and her precious grandchildren:  Jade, Ryleigh, Cassie, and Jordyn.

The family will receive guests at an open visitation at Acres West on Monday, September 2, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  A Celebration of Life will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, officiated by Pastor Mike Bartlett.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.

Betty Jean Burke 2019
Betty Jean Burke

Betty Jean Burke, age 81, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Friday, August 30, 2019.  She was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 29, 1937 to the late John Jean LeBlanc and Burlia Elizabeth (Curb) LeBlanc. 

Betty was a good cook, a loving wife, and great mother and step-mother.  She loved country music, gardening and playing the lotto.  She was crafty and made jewelry.  A huge animal lover, she rescued animals and had a special place in her heart for dogs.

She is survived by her husband of over 20 years:  Michael Richard Burke Sr. of Odessa; daughters:  Gina Holder, Johnny Lynn and Michelle; as well as two other adult children; brothers:  Rod and Brad LeBlanc of Illinois; sister:  Buzzette LeBlanc of Illinois; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her special German shepherd/malinois mix:  Lucky.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons:  Edward and Scott; and one daughter:  Valencia (Val) Ann McNeal.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory. 

Steven Sparks 2019
Steven Sparks

Steven Sparks, 53, joined our Heavenly Father on August 30, 2019 surrounded by family and friends.  Steven was born in Odessa, TX to the late Gerald Sparks Sr. and JoAnn Sparks on January 26, 1966. Steven met the love of his life: Wendy Sparks of Odessa and they married on July 28, 2014.  They spent five wonderful years together.  He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and most of all friend. 

Steven was larger than life, and could make you laugh on your darkest day.  Steven shone bright here on earth and will shine even brighter in heaven.  He loved to be surrounded with family and friends at all times and he thoroughly loved being a G-pa to his grandchildren. 

Steven is survived by his wife Wendy and her two children, Cory and Bailey and her daughter Baislynn; his daughter: Keisha Arnold and husband Daniel of Andrews and their two children, Blakely and Brantley; his oldest brother: Sandy Sparks, a niece and two nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Gerald Sparks Sr. and JoAnn May Sparks; sister: Darnell Sparks - Jones; and nephew: Bradley Sparks. 

Funeral Services will be held this Wednesday September 4, 2019 at 11 am at First Assembly of God, 1101 N. Lee Odessa, TX 79761.

Gloricel Chata Baeza 2019
Gloricel "Chata" Garcia de Baeza

Gloricel "Chata" Garcia de Baeza, age 53, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at her son's home.  She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on Wednesday, June 22, 1966 to Gloria Zapata (Benavidez) Garcia and the late Manuel Garcia Piña. She worked as a bus driver for ECISD.

Gloricel will be missed so much by her family; her mother:  Gloria Zapata Garcia of Mexico; her son:  Erick Baeza and wife Miriam of Odessa; her daughter:  Erika Longoria and husband Ariel of Odessa; four brothers; one sister; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at a later date in Mexico with burial to follow at Panteon Municipal in Manuel Benavidez, Chihuahua, Mexico. 

Shelli Lee Guggisberg 2019
Shelli Lee Guggisberg

Shelli Lee Guggisberg, age 46, of Midland, TX was relieved from the burdens of this earthly life on Saturday, August 31, 2019.  Shelli was born in Abilene, TX on June 8, 1973 to Kenneth Dale and Darla Sue (Taylor) Ford.

Shelli was a Daddy's girl and a amazing mother.  A sweet soul with a big heart, she loved her family passionately and would do anything for her kids.  She wore her heart on her sleeve and had a quiet strength.  Shelli loved music, everything from old country to classic rock.  She always kept a brave face and didn't let her disease bring her down. 

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her daughter:  Katlyn Guggisberg and spouse Wesley McFall of Vernon, TX; son:  Joshua Guggisberg and wife Caitlynn of Weatherford, TX; brother:  Kenneth Ford and wife Jessica of Midland, TX and Joseph William Ford of Shreveport, LA; sister:  Ruby Ann (Ford) Williams and husband Gary of Lubbock, TX; and two precious grandsons:  Gavin and Landry McFall.

Shelli is preceded to her heavenly home by her parents:  Kenneth and Darla Ford; and brother:  Richard Hutchens.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the family farm, 413 County Road 5 South, Childress, TX (located between FM 94 and FM 2103 on the west side) on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm.

Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Odessa.

Cecilia Garza 2019
Cecilia Chavez Garza

Cecilia Chavez Garza, age 79 of Odessa, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at her residence. She was born Monday, July 1, 1940 in Stanton, TX to Lorenzo and Reyes Chavez.

Cecilia loved gambling and playing bingo. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and wife. She enjoyed eating at Golden Corral but also loved to make tortillas and red enchiladas. Cecilia watched The Price is Right, Deal or No Deal, and her Dallas Cowboys every game day.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her sons: Santos Garza, Jr. and wife Erlinda, Rene Garza and wife Adela, and Mark Garza and wife Minnie; daughters: Lupe Trevizo, Irene Garza and husband Ferando Becerra, and Norma Solis; brother: Juan P. Chavez and wife Lupe; seventeen grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Santos Garza; sister: Eulogia Young husband Jose; and grandsons: Adrian and Lorenzo Garza.

A rosary will be recited 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Thursday, September 5, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the interment to follow at the Rose Hill Gardens section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Jose Martinez Ortega 2019
Jose Javier Martinez Ortega

Jose Javier Martinez Ortega, age 69, passed from this life surrounded by his loving family at his home in Odessa on Monday, September 2, 2019. He was born at La Mora ranch in Santa Fe, Del Pino, Coahuila, Mexico to Tomas and Felicita (Ortega) Martinez.  He married Lilia Hernandez in Odessa on June 12, 1974 and they raised seven children together.  He was skilled with his hands and worked as a diesel mechanic as well as working in construction and doing pipeline work.

Jose loved to sing and watch boxing.  He was a big fan of Manny Pacquiao.  He enjoyed going back visiting the La Mora ranch where he was born as much as he could and loved animals; horses, rooster, and goats.  Jose cherished his grandbabies.  He was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Lilia Martinez; sons:  Jose Martinez Jr. and wife Sylvia, Tommy Martinez Sr. and Ernesto Martinez and wife Cristina; daughters:  Elia Olivas, Tatiana Zubia and husband Ruben, Jasmine Berzosa and husband Angel, and Taly Olivas, all of Odessa.  He is also survived by three sisters:  Manuela Martinez and Abelica Martinez, both of Ojinaga, MX and Lilia Mendoza of Odessa; ten grandchildren:  Tiffany Martinez, Noah Martinez, Breana Martinez, Tommy Martinez Jr., Tony Martinez, Tammy Martinez, Catarino Rodriguez, Liliana Zubia, Ruben Zubia and Eliana Zubia; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents:  Tomas and Felicita Martinez; sister:  Idolina Dominguez; and his grandson:  Omar "Chilo" Frias, Jr.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 5, 2019 with burial to follow at Odessa II Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.

Paulina Fierro 2019
Paulina Fierro

Paulina Fierro, age 82, passed from this life Monday, September 2, 2019 at her home. She was born Tuesday, June 15, 1937 in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Librado Flores and Juana Rodriguez. She was a homemaker and a Catholic at heart.

Those left to cherish her love and memory include her husband: Juan Fierro; 5 children: Raul Fierro and wife Araceli, Alvaro Fierro and wife Ramona, Rosa Azpeitia and husband Mauricio, Juan M. Fierro and wife Belen, and Paula Gallegos and husband Alberto, all of Odessa; nine grandchildren: Erika F. Beck and husband T.K, Ivette F. Suchil, Jesus R. Fierro and wife Krystal, Ruben J. Suchil, Joanna F. Garcia and husband Timothy, Joanne F. Garcia and husband Bobby, Arely E. Gallegos, Liliana Fierro, and Maria Milagros Fierro; four great-grandchildren: Ty’ericc X. Beck, Pamela R. Beck, Tracee I. Beck and Ruby A. Fierro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paulina is preceded in death by her parents; Librado Flores and Juana Rodriguez; two brothers; a sister; and a daughter.

A Rosary will be recited 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 4, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm am Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

Guadalupe O Jimenez 2019
Guadalupe "Lupe" Ornelas Jimenez

Guadalupe "Lupe" Ornelas Jimenez, age 39, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, September 2, 2019.  He was born in Odessa on Saturday, June 21, 1980 to Oscar and Adela (Ornelas) Jimenez.  Lupe is now with his beloved mother, reunited in Heaven.  A jack of all trades, he worked as a carpenter and was able to fix anything.

Lupe was a hard worker and a neat freak who enjoyed vegetable gardening and growing flowers.  He loved music and art.  He collected vinyl records and was a talented artist who loved to draw.  Devoted to his family, his famous "tough love" showed you how much he cared.  Lupe was always willing to help out anyone in need and was deeply loved.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Beverly Gifford; father:  Oscar Jimenez of Odessa; maternal grandmother:  Alejandra Ornelas of Balmorhea; son:  Isaiah Jimenez of Odessa; brother:  Oscar Jimenez and girlfriend Valerie of Odessa; sister:  Crystal Garcia and husband Omar of Odessa; nieces:  Taisha Garcia, Lynda Garcia, Grace Garcia, and Amia Garcia; and nephews:  Bryson Garcia, Ezraen Garcia, and Julius Jimenez.  He will be sorely missed by his beloved dogs: Lola, Django, and Ginger.

He is preceded in death by his mother:  Adela Jimenez; paternal grandparents:  Guadalupe and Ofelia Jimenez; brother:  Joseph Orneles; and sister:  Linda Jimenez.

Funeral services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm.  Brother Barnes will officiate.

Manuel Vijil Marquez Jr.

Manuel Vijil Marquez Jr. age 70, of Odessa, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 in Atlanta, TX.  He was born in Kermit, TX on June 17, 1949 to the late Manuel Granado Marquez and Matilde (Vijil) Marquez.  Manuel was retired from working as a roustabout in the oilfield.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brother: Vicente Marquez and wife Alicia; niece:  Gloria M. Gomez and husband Richard Saenz; nephews:  Santos Gomez and wife Patty, Phillip Marquez and Pete Marquez Jr.; great-nephews:  Julius Angel Gomez and Iram "Spinker" Saenz; great-nieces:  Destiny Nevaeh Gomez, Eternity Michelle Gomez, Unity Ziraya Gomez, Divinity Crecenia Gomez and Arrianity Ahriel Gomez; and many cousins, all of Odessa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters:  Paula Marquez Gomez and Elidia "Lila" M. Renteria; brothers:  Pete Marquez and Albert "Alvaro" Marquez; and his nephews:  Daniel Renteria and Abel Marquez.

Manuel was fun loving and a little bit crazy.  He enjoyed going for walks and would often pop in on his cousin for visits.  He was a loving person with a smile that lit up the room.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel Sunday evening at 6:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Los Angeles Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.

Ricky Charles McCraw, age 38, of Odessa, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Thursday, August 27, 1981 in Houston, TX to Toni and Billy Charles McCraw, Jr.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife: Llubia Bustillos; sons: Ryder and Ryan McCraw and Ray and Roland Cantu; mother: Toni Bronaugh and husband J.C.; father Billy McCraw, Jr. and wife Cindy; brother: Robbie Beedy; sister: Rashel Stamps and husband John Draper; aunts: Pam, Tresia, and Katie; uncles: Johnny, Daniel and Ricky; niece Randi; nephews: Taylor and Chase; and cousin: Tracie, Jaime, Shane, Crystal, Larry, Vanessa, Daniel and Amy.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Viewing will begin Monday, September 9, 2019 at 10:00 am.
