Socorro Caballero Rojas

Socorro Caballero Rojas, age 76, passed from this life Thursday, July 11, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born Tuesday, July 28, 1942 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua to Seberino and Gregoria Caballero.

Socorro loved to cook. She helped and loved everyone, and was a mother to anyone. She was old fashioned and made sure everyone was taken care of and well fed. Socorro’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her sons: Rene C. Rojas and wife Rosalinda, and Elisio Rojas, Jr.; daughter: Maribel C. Rojas and husband Frank; brothers: Arturo Caballero and wife Juanita and Sebrino Caballero and wife Xochitl; sisters: Michaella Cepeda and husband Dulces, Ramona Aranda, and Chela Rojas and husband Felipe; and grandchildren: Rene, Mariel, Justine, Danielle, Sofia, Claudia, and Monique Rojas, and Mara Orosco.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Eliseo Bueno Rojas; son: Julian C. Rojas; brother: Gustavo Caballero; and sisters: Armida Corral and Rebecca Suchil.

A rosary will be recited 7:00 pm Monday, July 15, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Oliver Rodriguez

Oliver Rodriguez, age 23, passed from this life unexpectedly on Thursday, July 11th. He was born August 11, 1995 in Odessa to Carlos and Martha Susana (Leyva) Rodriguez. He married Katty Natividad on October 18, 2014 in Odessa.

An electrician for Foreman Electric, he had a contagious smile and was always joking and full of life. He would find the best in everything and was always happy and very loving, sentimental and cherished his family very much. Oliver had an awesome, tender heart and wasn't afraid to show his love and tenderness. His children, wife and family meant the world to him and spending time with them was his top priority.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife, Katty, one son: Matthew and one daughter: Sofia Natividad Rodriguez all of Odessa.  He also leaves behind his parents: Carlos and Susana, two brothers: Orlando Rodriguez and Israel Jordan, one sister: Karla Dominey and husband William all of Odessa; His Paternal grandmother: Concepcion Rodriguez and Maternal Grandparents Cesaria and Belem Leyva, one niece Azlynn Jane Dominey and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and many many dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather: Alfonso Rodriguez.

Services are scheduled for 1 pm, Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Billy Gene Bell

Billy Gene Bell, age 70, of Monahans, passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa on Friday, July 12, 2019.  He was born in Parkin, Arkansas on October 22, 1948 to Lonnie Otto and Katherine (White) Bell.  He married Janet Riggen in Tijuana, Mexico on March 5, 1968 and they raised three children together, enjoying 52 years together.  Billy worked as a security guard.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife: Janet Bell of Monahans; two sons:  Billy Gene Bell II of Odessa and Timothy James Bell and wife Teresa Marie Bell of Monahans; daughter:  Sheila Christine Ruuti of Colorado Springs, CO; three brothers:  Lonnie Bell, Virgil Bell and Ronnie Bell; two sisters:  Joella Collins and Jeanette Luna; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Shirley James, Herman Bell, Wayne Bell and Brenda Floyd.

Memorial services will be privately held.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jody McQueen 2019
Jody McQueen

Jody McQueen, 67, of Odessa, TX was surrounded by family and friends when he left this world too soon on July 12, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Jody was born on Friday, July 11, 1952, in Midland, TX to Joe and Bonnie McQueen. He lived in Odessa all of his life. He attended Permian High School and Odessa College.

Jody married the love of his life, Kathie Yancey in 1969. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. He was a devoted father to Randal, Shannon and Cori. Jody had the kind of personality people gravitated towards. He never met a stranger, and made friends internationally. He was known for his ingenuity and creativity and his crude sense of humor.

Jody owned MCO Construction. The technology and patents he has are being used all around the world. He built Internal Fusion Bond Coating plants in China, Russia, the Middle East, Mexico, Canada and South America.

He was an avid racer, fisherman, hunter and sailor. Jody enjoyed spending his free time down on Dunagan Road. His spontaneity and creativity knew no bounds. You never knew what he would come up with next. Whether it was constructing a submarine in the front yard or building a race car or a hydraulic smoker pit, Jody did it all.

Adventures took the family to Kemah, TX, where Jody and Kathie purchased a sailboat, "Una Mas" and entered a Regatta to Veracruz, Mexico. Unknowingly setting sail towards one of the greatest adventures they ever had, only to defy odds and win the Regatta 1st place. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the boat was renamed the Caca Canoe. Whatever the day brought, Jody was the center of attention, entertainment and life of the party. Beyond all of that, Jody was such a compassionate person.

Jody was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Chester McQueen and Bonnie Collins McQueen. He is survived by his wife Kathie Yancey McQueen; son Randal McQueen and wife Cheryl; daughters Shannon Weaver and husband Cody; Cori Tacker and husband Austin; his grandchildren Tyler and wife Haleigh, Mikel, Ryleigh, Cutter, Gage, Pierce, Maggie and Camden; great-grandchildren Trystan, Jaxon and Harleigh; and his sisters Pam Ransleben and husband Bill, and Debbie Bruce; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Star Hospice.

Ruben Ojeda Mariscal, Jr.

Ruben Ojeda Mariscal, Jr. passed from this life Saturday, July 13, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born February 1, 1958 in Bakersfield, CA to Manuela and Ruben Mariscal, Sr.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife: Lydia Mariscal; son: Ruben Mariscal, III and wife Jenna of Tampa; daughters: Veronica Diaz and husband Richard of Lamesa; Valentina Northern and husband Justin of Wasilla, and Angel Mariscal and fiancé Spencer of Midland; brothers: Mac Mariscal and Oscar Mariscal; sisters: Irma Rodriguez, Norma Rodriguez, Gracie Ortega, Sally Mariscal, Betty Mariscal, and Erica Lay; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Eva Mae Byrd 2019
Eva Mae Byrd

Eva Mae Byrd, age 72, of Odessa passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Odessa Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Bandera, TX on Wednesday, June 18, 1947 to the late Earl Sanford Lowe and Gertie Mae (Hendrixson) Lowe.  She married William A. Byrd in Odessa in 1984.  Eva retired from a career with US Postal Service.

Eva was an animal lover, especially cats.  Her cat "Blue Boy" will miss her terribly.  A beautiful person who loved the Lord, Eva never wanted any credit for her good works, but always gave praise to Jesus.  She loved her family with all of her heart and her grandbabies and great-grandbabies were the light of her life.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Bill Byrd of Odessa; two sons:  Robert Scott and wife Mary Kay of Pleasanton and Kinney C. Byrd and wife Denise of Axtell; brothers:  Stanley Lowe and wife Diana of Fuquay, NC and Gene Lowe and wife Roberta of Odessa; sister:  Linda Shackelford and husband Harold of Breckenridge; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Her parents and her daughter:  Robin Williams, precede her in death.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Pastor Matt Wilson will officiate.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Belvin L Beau Wilson 2019
Belvin Leon "Beau" Wilson

Belvin Leon "Beau" Wilson, age 77, of Odessa passed from this life at Continued Care Hospital on Monday, July 15, 2019.  He was born to the late Lloyd Wilson and Gladys (Clark) Box in Stamford, TX on October 19, 1941.  Beau was a retired master plumber.  He married Cheryl Williams in Odessa, TX on June 20, 1980.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Cheryl Wilson of Odessa; son:  Stacy Wilson and wife Katie of Odessa; two daughters:  Lisa Clark and husband Michael of Abilene and Jacqi Crane and husband Charlie of Rule; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.  Beau really loved his grandkids!

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tommy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Shaye Lane.

Alan Ray Yancey

Alan Ray Yancey, age 70, passed from this life Monday, July 15, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Friday, October 15, 1948 in Great Bend, KS to Virginia and Lee Yancey.

Alan was very smart, organized, brilliant, energized and a hard worker. He had his pilot license and loved flying hot air balloons. He had a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications. He retired from Sims Plastic after becoming ill. Alan helped his son, Cody, become an Eagle Scout. He was an excellent cook.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his son: Cody Yancey; sister: Kathie McQueen; and his ex wife: Kim Yancey.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Alex Yancey; and brother: Clyde Lee Yancey.

Elizabeth Valles de Garcia, age 78, of Odessa, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.  She was born in Boquilla de Camargo, Ojinaga, Mexico on November 2, 1940 to the late Alberto Valles and Carmen Fierro de Valles.  She was a homemaker, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her children, five sons:  Jesus Homero Garcia of Ojinaga, MX, Juan Manuel Garcia, Manuel Alberto Garcia, Mauricio Garcia and Julio Cesar Garcia, all of Odessa; three daughters:  Patricia Guerrero, Orilde Imelda Chambers, and Elizabeth Carrillo, all of Odessa; sisters:  Soledad Hernandez, Socorro Chavez and Leonila Villa; brother:  Jaime Fierro; twenty-nine grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband:  Jesus Garcia; and four siblings:  Martha, Alberto, David, and Armando.

Visitation and a Rosary will be at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel on Thursday, July 18, 2019. Funeral services will be held in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico with burial to follow at El Ultimo Refugio.

Elva Payen Aranda

Elva Payen Aranda, age 77 of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at her residence. She was born Thursday, February 19, 1942 in San Juan, MX to Juan and Guadalupe Levario Payen.

Elva was the matriarch of the family. She was the strongest woman you would have ever met, and she never judged anyone. She was very caring and loving. Elva’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. She was a great cook and one of her specialties was to be able to feed any and everyone who came around. She was an amazing sister, wife and mother. She always wanted to take care of others. Elva was a devoted Christian Catholic woman. She was a Dallas Cowboys, and World Series fan. With no education, Elva was not only the smartest, but very independent.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband: Oracio Aranda; son: Arthur Aranda and wife Milissa; daughters: Leticia Sarabia and husband Daniel, Yvonne Sanchez and husband Raul, and Celina Aranda; brother: Armando Payen; sisters: Eva Armijo, Olga Aldaz, and Nina Payen; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, with two on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Manuel Payen, Sr., Alberto Payen and Israel Payen; and sisters: Elfida Garduño and Estela Arenivas.

A Rosary will be recited 7:00 pm Friday, July 19, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, July 20, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jesus Manuel Jordan, age 69, of Odessa, passed away at Buena Vida Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on August 19, 1949 to Guadalupe Jordan.  He retired from working as a pipeline foreman in the oilfield.  Jesus loved spending time with his grandchildren

Those left to cherish his love are his wife of 45 years: Dionisia Rodriguez Jordan; his daughters:  Nancy J. Cortez and husband Francisco, Miriam Jordan, Aime J. Zubia and husband Joel, all of Odessa; grandchildren:  Jose Luis Valeriano Jr. and wife Samantha; Alan, Isai and Aaron Valeriano; Isabella Garcia; Jordan, David and Julian Zubia; and Andrea Cortez; great-granddaughter:  Elena Valeriano; brothers:  Patricio Rosales of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, MX and Humberto Rosales of Acuña, Coahuila, MX; sister:  Josefina Rosales of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, MX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother:  Guadalupe Jordan; brother:  Miguel Rosales; and sisters:  Guadalupe, Modesta, Petra and Carmen Rosales.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel at 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 21, 2019.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 22, 2010 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Odessa II Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joel Zubia, Jordan Zubia, David Zubia, Jose Luis Valeriano, Jr., Jesus Dorado, Francisco Cortez and Juan Luis Olmos.
