Michael Anthony Lezama

Michael Anthony Lezama, age 21, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Friday, September 26, 1997 in Odessa, TX to Rogelio Simon and Elvira (Chavarria) Lezama.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his parents; brothers: Simon, Danny and Scott Lezama uncles: Ramon and Miguel Lezama; aunt: Flor Lezama; niece: Kelsey Lezama; and nephew: Jesaiah Lezama.

Visitation will be at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel ending each evening at 11:00 pm.  Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Monday at St. Joseph with the interment to follow at Odessa II Section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Louella Gladys Bryant

Louella Gladys Bryant, age 58, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born Saturday, May 14, 1960 to Lawrence and Ozella Proctor Green in Hobbs, NM.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Christopher and Steven Kendrix; daughter: Shawna Kendrix; brothers: Wayne and Larry Dale Green; and twelve grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Lyle and Lonnie Green; and sister: Linda Chesser Green.

Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with a family gathering to follow at Steven’s house. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Beatrice Montgomery "Tip" Roberson

Beatrice Montgomery "Tip" Roberson, age 79, of Odessa, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.  She began her earthly journey in Belfalls, TX born to the late Louis and Aria (Sanders) Montgomery on December 18, 1939.  She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.  She loved going to church and her church family.

Beatrice enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, gambling and listening to music, especially the Blues.  After converting to the Lord's side, her taste's changed to Gospel.  She loved her family, treating her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.  A strict disciplinarian, she always stressed doing things right the first time.  Her nieces and nephews always went to her for answers when they had questions or a problem.  A caregiver, she would make a fuss if someone did things out of order.  Beatrice never met a stranger and loved people regardless of race. Everyone called her "Tip" or "Bea".  She was a hard worker who taught those around her to live life to the fullest.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her daughters:  Alice Roberson-Patton and Janice M. Roberson, both of Odessa, TX; son:  LaVester Roberson of Livingston, TX; sisters:  Adell Anderson and Pearline Williams, both of Thrall, TX, Mary Miller of Taylor, TX and Sophie Rollie of Odessa; grandchildren:  Nitoshia Roberson, Latarion Owens, and Precious Calicutt; and two great-grandchildren:  Warrentee Stricklin and Xaelin Stricklin.

She was preceded to her heavenly home by her parents:  Louis "Papaw" and Aria "Big Mama" Montgomery; her husband:  Quinton Roberson; five brothers:  Charles "Sunny" Montgomery, Sidney "Howell" Montgomery, Louis "Bubba" Montgomery, J.W. "Blue" Montgomery and Howard "Dudiebotty" Montgomery; and her great-granddaughter: Shatekko Roberson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Manna of the Word Ministries Church, 1312 S. Jackson, Odessa, TX 79761.  Pastor Donnie Rollie will officiate.

Pallbearers will include:  Clifton Montgomery, Timothy Montgomery, Johnnie Rollie, Garrett Rollie, Roy Montgomery, and Lowrance Rollie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lonnie Wayne Anderson, LaVester Roberson and Alfred Rollie.

Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tip's memory to Boys' Town, first responders, or family and friends are appreciated.

Ray Charles Jones

Ray Charles Jones passed away on March 2, 2019 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX at the age of 55. He was born in Brownfield, TX on October 27, 1963 to Vernia Mae (Smith) Jones and the late R.L. Jones. Ray was a welder and he really enjoyed junking items and selling them.

He was preceded in death by his father: R.L. Jones; sister: Gloria Faye Hobbs; brothers: Robert Eugene Jones and “June Bug” Jones and a niece Tyronda Montgomery.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his mother: Vernia Mae Jones; son: Latavius Devon Smith; granddaughter: Kaliyah Smith, sisters: Beechie Jones, Barbara (Billy) Rand, Mary Irene Jones, Jeanette Jones, and Judy Jones (Luther) Davenport; aunt: Loretta Jones; uncle: Sam CaseII; special friend: Cheryl Blaylock and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, March 8, 2019 at Manna of the Word Ministries Church with a burial to be held privately. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jonathan Ivan "Jon" Guevara

Jonathan Ivan "Jon" Guevara, age 31, of Odessa, passed from this life at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX on Saturday, March 2, 2019.  He was born in Odessa, TX on December 7, 1987 to Ruben Bustos and Irma Primera (Holguin) Guevara.  He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

Jon was a welder and loved his job.  He was a family man who enjoyed vacationing with his son, watching movies with his nieces and nephews and family time in general. He enjoyed a good West Texas bonfire and Country music.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his parents:  Ruben and Irma Guevara of Odessa; son:  Jonah Robert Guevara of Texas City; two brothers: Ruben Guevara Jr. and wife Bernadette of San Antonio and Joshua Guevara of Odessa; sister:  Cynthia Mendoza and husband Adam of Odessa; and his beloved nieces and nephews:  Madison Paredez, Samantha Guevara, Anthony Fryer and Noah Guevara.  He also leaves behind his companion - his dog Blue.

His grandparents:  Gregorio and Pabla Guevara and Luciano and Eliza Holguin, and Uncle Wally Holguin, precede him in death.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 7:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Odessa II Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.

David W Lackey Sr 2019
David Waid Lackey, Sr.

David Waid Lackey, Sr., age 74, of Odessa, passed from this life to his everlasting life at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, March 4, 2019.  He was born in Lamesa, TX on Thursday, January 11, 1945 to Nelson Evan and Wannie (Smith) Lackey.  He married Wanda Bruce in Odessa in 1963.  David repaired machine shop equipment and was a US Navy veteran.

Good with his hands, David enjoyed rebuilding cars and did beautifully crafted woodwork.  He was a perfectionist and a jack of all trades, never one to be idle.  He also liked to build and ride motorcycles and go fishing.  A loving father and husband, he loved his family very much and will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years:  Wanda Lackey; son:  David Lackey Jr.; daughters:  Gina Bruton, Tonja Lackey, and Shannon Lackey; sister:  Jo Ann Heronema; brother:  Michael Lackey; twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his parents:  Nelson Lackey and Wannie Smith.

Memorial services will be privately held at a later date.

Velma Pyles 2019
Velma Alice Pyles

Velma Alice Robertson Cabell Pyles, age 98, passed from this life Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born Thursday, February 3, 1921 in Mt. Pleasant, TX to the late Charley and Jennie (Gentry) Robertson.  A retiree, Velma had worked at Medical Center Hospital, Bole's Children's Home, and had been a bookkeeper for a clothing store in Mt. Pleasant.

A member of the Church of Christ since the age of 19, Velma was a giving loving woman who would do anything to help others.  She worshipped in Odessa with the congregations at Parkview Church of Christ and then West University Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her daughters:  Alice Stephens and husband James and Velma Sims and husband Gary, all of Odessa; four grandchildren:  Shanna Edwards and husband Jason, Misty Franklin and husband Chris Lang, Gary Sims and wife Tasha, and Amy Johnson and husband Tanner;  and fourteen great-grandchildren:  Kassidy, Dylan, Hunter, Haygen, Korbin, Austynn, Annsley, Ambrie, Ashtin, Addison, Caden, Levi, Jason, and Shayla.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands:  Bennie Marvin Cabell and Abner Marlin Pyles; brothers:  George Robertson and Raymond Robertson; sister:  Lois Robertson-Wilhite; and her son:  Bennie Galon Cabell.

Visitation will be at Acres West from noon Wednesday, March 6, 2019 to noon  Thursday, March 7, 2019 with cremation to follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Freda I Decker 2019
Freda Irene Soules Decker

Freda Irene Soules Decker, age 85, of Odessa, passed from this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born Wednesday, August 23, 1933 on a farm in Moline, TX to the late Fred and Flossie Irene (Sheldon) Soules.  She attended Star School in Star, TX all twelve years (graduating in 1951) and was active in all sports.  Raised on a farm, she could do anything the boys could do.  She did barrel racing and drove a tractor before she drove a car. She was baptized and added to the Church on Mother's Day of 1947.  She was a faithful member of Sherwood Church of Christ.

On May 23, 1951 she married her high school sweetheart, Delbert Decker.  Freda worked as a bookkeeper and cashier, then as a teller at several different banks as they moved around while Delbert served 4 years in the Air Force. She worked at First National Bank when they returned to Odessa, retiring in 1988.   She loved fishing, gardening and working in her yard and enjoyed sewing (satin pillow cases) and baking (especially pound cakes).  She and Delbert did wood working in their later years and went to craft shows.

Freda is preceded in death by her parents; her infant son: Steven; brother:  Ward Glyn Soules; and her husband: Delbert.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her daughter:  Deborah Wagner (Stan); son: Kevin Decker (Dana); sisters-in-law:  LaDell Vasicek (Rudy), Betty Decker, and Bobbie Soules; grandchildren:  Brett Wagner (Shannan), Lindsey Penrod (Drew); Jennifer McKenney (Michael), Justin Heine (Bernadette), Jacob Heine, and Jason Stanford; and great-grandchildren:  Burak, Charlie Mae, Destiny, John, Jaxson, Sophia, Sebastian, Easton, Justin and Troy.

Funeral services will be at Sherwood Church of Christ at 10:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2019, officiated by Brother Lynn Money.  Burial will take place the following day at Hurst Ranch Cemetery in Star, TX at 11 am on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, Freda preferred that donations in her memory go to the Odessa Christian School or to Cancer or Heart Disease charities.

Maria Ninfa Villanueva

Maria Ninfa Villanueva, age 71, passed from this life Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born Monday, November 10, 1947 in Ojinaga, MX to the late Juaquin and Estella (Ramirez) Sanchez.

Maria Ninfa was a very giving person and she loved to give to those in need. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always enjoyed being around her family. Her children would say she was their rock. Maria Ninfa was always happy and was a loving wife.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Isreal P. Villanueva; sons: Raul Villanueva and Carlos Villanueva and wife Jovani; daughters: Carime Sanchez and husband Daniel, Karina Lozano and husband Salvador, Alma Garcia and husband Alejandro, and Yesenia Chavez and husband Raul; brothers: Armando Sanchez, Ricardo Sanchez, Sergio Sanchez and Carlos Sanchez; sisters: Enemecia (Mencha) Villanueva and husband Manuel, Gloria Sanchez and husband Isaias, Maria Elana Sanchez, and Nelia Armendarez and husband Carlos; and sixteen grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her brothers: Antonio and Juaquin Sanchez, Jr.; and sister: Librada Contreras.

Rosary will be recited 7:00 PM Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Monday, March 11, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Brandy Michelle Morgan, age 43, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born Sunday, March 30, 1975 to Bobby and Debra (Franklin) Morgan in Odessa, TX.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her brother: Wes Morgan and wife Lacy; sister: Sandi McLearen and husband Robert; nieces and nephews: Ethan, Bryson, Lacey, Emily and Malarie; and great nieces: Olivia and Leilani.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
