Lee Henderson

Ornal Lee Henderson, age 82, of Odessa, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on Sunday, August 9, 1936 to the late Oscar Lee and Gertha Baletta (Pressley) Henderson.  Lee married Helen Tennison on February 9, 1958 and they had just celebrated 61 loving years together.  He was a faithful member of River of Hope Christian Fellowship.  Atruck driver, he had worked many years for the city of Odessa and for Williams Paving.  He loved his job and anything that had to do with trucks, truck driving or truck shows.

Lee loved the guitar and would play and sing with his son.  His wife and son were well loved by him.  He always had a big smile for everyone.  His love for passing out candy to children had earned him the nick-name "Candy Man" at church.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers:  Doyle Lynn Henderson and Oric Dee Henderson; and three sisters:  Leona Maye Henderson, Trillis Emagene Couch, and Baby Girl Henderson.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Helen Henderson of Odessa; son:  Charles Lee Henderson; sisters:  Joyce Ladean Morgan, Letta Fern Marrow and Gequita Vaughn Douglas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, February 15, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Pastor Renee Phillips will officiate.   Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Pastor Steve Phillips, Pastor Shawn Lane, Bobby Stark 2.0, Jesse Castillo, Billy Pramburg, Cas Luna, and Virginia Martinez. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Oscar Ortiz Brito

Oscar Ortiz Brito, age 24, passed from this life Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Sunday, September 11, 1994 to Reynalo Brito Ramos and Olga Amelia Ortiz Salcido in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, MX.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Perla Nicolas; sons: Joel Adrian Brito and Joe Angel Brito; parents; brother: Luis Brito; grandparents: Modesto Ortiz Lujan, Anselma Salcedo Sotelo and Maria de la Luz Ramos Olivas; and numerous aunts and uncles.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather: Marcela Brito Villa  

Services will be at a later date in Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Matthew Jedidiah Haislett, age 33, passed from this life Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Monday, May 20, 1985 in Midland, TX to Donald Brett Haislett and Gina Carol Taylor.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his daughter: Emilee Michelle Haislett; parents; brother: Micah Aaron Haislett and wife Mandy; sisters: Megan Elizabeth Swopes and husband Jared, and Mallary Ruth Haislett; grandparent: William Taylor and wife Margaret; uncles: David Haislett and wife Susan and Doug Haislett and wife Deidre; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Red and Carol Haislett and Frances Taylor; and aunt: Lisa Taylor.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Monday, February 18, 2019 at Life Church officiated by Dr. Ken Redmon. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Jack Herbert Scott
Jack Herbert Scott, age 81, passed from this life Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Sunday, August 22, 1937 in Grand Rapids, MI to Henry Quincy Scott and Edna Virginia Cox.

Jack loved motorcycles and collecting guns. He enjoyed going to Scottish festivals and played the bagpipes and wore a kilt. Jack is originally from Michigan but lived in Odessa since 1962. He was a hard working man and a “do it yourselfer”.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his son: Steven Scott and wife Joanna, and Thomas Scott and wife Michelle; sister: Linda Scott and husband Bill Kuhlman; grandchild: Kendall; great grandchild: Gabe; furchild: Baby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Carol Ann Scott and parents.

Susan Marie Zemlock

Susan Marie Zemlock, age 66, passed from this life Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born Friday, October 31, 1952 to Harvey Marion and LaDonna Sue Smiley in Odessa, TX.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Matthew Zemlock; sons: Lee Zemlock and wife Patsy and Wade Zemlock and wife Kandi; daughter: Kathryn Zemlock Shuffield and husband Jason; sister: Sherry Davis and husband Bill; grandchildren: Amber, Ashley and husband Josh, Jade, Bryanna, Emma and Trista; nieces: Kristi, Jodi, Stephanie, Brandi and Christina; nephews: Danny and Corey; grand-niece: Rebecka and husband Chance; grand-nephew: Harvey; and many other beloved friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother: Robert Smiley; sister: Marian Miller; and niece: Dawn LeAnn Story.

Visitation will be 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Memorial service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Zion Christian Church, officiated by Pastor Josh Blevins. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Katherine Denise Paz

Katherine Denise Paz, also known as "Kat" and "Huera", age 56, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Thursday, February 14, 2019.  She was born in Big Spring, TX on December 14, 1962 to the late Hugh and Goldie (Dawes) Tuck.  Kat married Sammy Paz in Odessa on March 7, 1981 and they were nearing the celebration of 38 years of marriage.  Kat worked for ECISD as a school bus driver and was a diehard Cowboys fan.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Sammy Paz of Odessa; mother and father-in-law:  Cira and Luis Paz of Odessa; sisters:  Susan Hankins and husband Dwight of Odessa, Stacey John and husband Chris of Goldsmith, and Lynn Carver and husband Joe of Odessa; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved blue heeler:  Chief.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers:  Tony and Bobby Tuck; and her sisters:  Nancy T. Wood and Mary T. Hudspeth.

Viewing will be Monday, February 18, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell.

Isai Garcia Almance
Isai Garcia Almance

Isai Garcia Almance, age 29, of Odessa, passed away in Midland, TX on Thursday, February 14, 2019.  He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on Saturday, March 18, 1989 to Jose Luis and Virginia (Almance Ramirez) Garcia.  He worked in the oilfield as a fabricator and inspector and worked in a paint shop.

Those left to cherish his memory are his father:  Jose Luis Garcia of Mexico; three daughters:  Arianna Garcia, Ayari Garcia, and Annais Garcia, all of Odessa; brother:  Josue Garcia of Midland; two sisters:  Aida Garcia of Ft. Stockton and Yuri Garcia of Odessa; niece:  Deziree and three nephews:  Edward, Ely and Josue Jr.

His mother precedes him in death.

Funeral services will be at a later date in Ojinaga, Mexico with burial to follow at Tierras Nuevas.

Jacoby Christopher McKay

Jacoby Christopher McKay, age 30, of Carlsbad, NM, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February14, 2019 in Carlsbad, NM.  He was born in Monahans, TX on May 6, 1988 to James Christopher McKay and Sylvia McKay-Pendergrass.  He was a truck driver in the oilfield industry.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his father:  Chris McKay of Hobbs, NM; mother:  Sylvia McKay-Pendergrass of Odessa; maternal grandmother:  Helen Pendergrass of Odessa; paternal grandmother:  Billie McKay of Wink; daughter:  Jaelea McKay of Carlsbad; sister: Gabrielle McKay of Midland; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather:  Billy Pendergrass and paternal grandfather:  Jimmy McKay.

Jacoby attended two school years in Loving, NM and two years in Carlsbad, NM along with graduating from Carlsbad, NM.  He loved all sports and excelled in football and golf. He loved writing music and singing as well. Jacoby was also on the series of Black Gold season 3 filming in 2010 in Midland, TX. Jacoby always had an upbeat personality and a smile on his face.  He loved being around his family dearly, especially his daughter, Jaelea.

Jacoby gave his life to Christ when he was 13 years old in 2001, at First Christian Church in Carlsbad, NM.  He loved reading and studying his Bible.  Jacoby never claimed to be the perfect child, but always knew he could depend on God anytime.

A Celebration of Jacoby's life will be Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa at 2:00 pm.

Alma Smith 2019
Alma SeLena Smith

Alma SeLena Smith, age 68, passed from this life Friday, February 15, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born Sunday, September 3, 1950 to Maurice and Ruby Emma Alma in Grayling, Michigan.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her daughters: Debra Marie Hembree and Cynthia Joy Chambers; brother: Rex Alma; significant other: Steve; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter: Delta Pearl; four brothers; one sister; and three grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 18, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the March of Dimes.

William Raymond "Bill" Brindle

William Raymond "Bill" Brindle, age 87, passed away at Buena Vida Nursing Home on Friday, February 15, 2019.  He was born in Erick, OK on Sunday, January 31, 1932 to the late Clyde Raymond and Mary (Holland) Brindle.  He worked as an operator for Halliburton for 32 years. He was an elder at River of Hope Christian Fellowship.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sons:  Larry Brindle and wife Arita of Odessa and Steve Brindle and wife Lani of Woodbury, MN; daughter:  Gayla Harkness and husband Eddie of Odessa; brother:  Clyde Brindle Jr. of Erick, OK; sister:  Phyllis Flowers of Amarillo; grandchildren:  Chad, Josh, Gabriel, Athena, Julie, Kirk, Dustin and Chris; fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife:  Marie Brindle; his second wife:  Patsy Brindle; sister:  Helen Coffey; and his grandsons:  Patrick and Larry Jr.

Funeral services will be10:00 am Monday, February 18, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Pastors Renee Phillips and Shaye Lane will officiate.  Interment follows at a later date in Sayre, OK at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery.
