Rose Mary Huffman 2019
Rose Mary Huffman

Rose Mary Huffman, age 85, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.  She began her earthly journey in Desdemona, TX on August 14, 1933, born to the late Thad and Ovia (Robinson) Spicer.  Rose married Calvin Travis "C.T." Huffman in Lovington, NM on June 27, 1950 and they enjoyed over 60 years of marriage before separated by his death January 4, 2011.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her daughters:  Deborah Kay McComas and husband Donald of Odessa and Kellye Diane Kimmell of Oklahoma; grandchildren:  Kara and Wes Carta, Daniel Lee McComas, Jacob and Abdy McComas, Amanda Lynne McComas and Christopher Kimmel; great grandchildren:  Blake Aaron Carta, Andrew Ryan Carta, Calleigh Marie McComas, Tucker Kimmel and Gavin Kimmel; brothers:  Charles Eddie Spicer and Mickey Spicer; and sisters:  Doris Graham, Frankie Jo Horton, Gay Nell Hopkins, Sherry Lee Henry, Sherriel Lee Moore, and Paula Gryder.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she is preceded in death by three brothers:  Roland Perry Spicer, Randy Spicer, and Mike Spicer.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Sid Driggers.

Starla Prestidge 2019
Starla Jean Prestidge

Starla Jean Prestidge, age 59, passed from this life Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born to Jackie L. and Paulette Fulks Ray in Odessa, TX.

Starla had a smile that would light up the room and an infectious personality. She worked at Western Foods and Norma’s Café where she served the public for many years. Starla had a “one of a kind” love when it came to her husband. She was very motherly and was like a “second mother” to many. She never knew a stranger. Starla loved bowling and the outdoors, including anywhere with a lake. She loved her grandbabies.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Gary Prestidge; sons: Bobby Verette, Brandon Verette and wife Lisa, and Douglas Rankin and wife Amanda; daughter: Meagan Ray and husband Sabeeno; mother: Paulette Ray; sisters: Kim Morris and husband Mark and Diana Sutherland and husband Gary; thirteen grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her father: Jackie Ray and sister: Julia Lynette Ray.

Visitation will begin 1:00 pm Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday to greet visitors. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2019 at New Dawn Fellowship, 2110 E. 10th Street in Odessa, TX with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Ronnie E Masey 2019
Ronnie Eugene "Poppy" Masey

Ronnie Eugene "Poppy" Masey, age 71, of Odessa, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his home.  He was born in Odessa on December 5, 1947 to the late James Rector and Jerry (Jones) Masey.  He was a truck driver in the oilfield, retiring from BJ Transport Services.  He was very proud of having built Masey Construction with his father.

Ronnie had a strong faith and a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed watching the races and spending time at the Coppertop Grill.  His joy in life were his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his children:  Tamara Charleston, Katherine Ramsel and wife Elizabeth, and Russell Masey and wife Jennifer; cousins:  Harold and Eva Masey, Shannon Elrod and Lisa Masey; and precious grandchildren:  Jamie Masey, Bradlee Masey, James Masey, Katlynn Masey, Alisia Carr, Tyler Carr, and Nicolas Chambers,.

Visitation will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10:00 am to noon.  Graveside memorial services will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 1:00 pm.

Jesus Rios Marquez, age 80, passed from this life Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Sunday, December 25, 1938 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Luz and Maria (Marquez) Rios.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Concepcion Ramos; sons: Ramon Rios and Javier Melendez and wife Mirna; daughter: Bertha Renteria and husband Aurelio; sister: Estela Rios; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and eleven great great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by her parents and sister: Rosalia Sanchez.

A Rosary will be recited 7:00 pm Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, January 28, 2019 at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel with interment to follow at Odessa II Section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Joshua Aaron Gordon, age 38, passed from this life Thursday, January 24, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Friday, January 25, 1980 to Stephen Wayne and Linda Sue Gordon in Andrews, TX.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his daughters: Avery Lynn and Addyson Ray Gordon, parents: Stephen Wayne and Linda Sue Gordon; and sister: Rebekah Peer and husband Jacob.

Annie Lucile Cox, age 38, passed from this life Thursday, January 24, 2019 in San Antonio, TX. She was born Thursday, May 8, 1980 in Odessa, TX to Jim Granbery and Connie Shaw.

Annie loved music, her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Matthew Cox; sons: Doc Rex and wife Tiffany and Morgan Rex; daughters” Elizabeth Cox; father: Jim Granbery and wife Lori; mother: Connie Rogers and husband Jeff; brother: David Granbery and wife Rebecca; sisters: Shannon Baker and husband Larry, Rebekah Bodkin and husband Jared, and Jennifer McKinney and husband Dustin; grandchildren Ryan and Olivia Lucile Rex; mother and father in law: Marcia and Mike Cox; brother in law: Michael Cox and wife April; and thirteen nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin 1:00 pm Monday, January 28, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Family will be available to greet visitors from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Charles W Hunt 2019
Charles Wayne "Chuck" Hunt

Charles Wayne "Chuck" Hunt, age 79, of Odessa, passed from this life on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Medical Center Hospital.  He began his earthly journey in Gorman, TX on  February 6, 1939, born to the late Arley Brian and Velma Bertha (Denton) Hunt.  Chuck married Patsy Shaw in Roswell, NM on June 18, 1960. 

He was a US Air Force veteran and he took full advantage of his GI bill.  He was very well educated and dove into many areas of service at once.  Chuck was self employed as a contractor and builder for over 20 years and served as a charter member of the W.O.V.F.D for 20 years.  He shared his talents and experience as a teacher of building trades at Odessa College for 16 years.  He worked 16 years for Texas Instruments and had retired after 10 years from the City of Odessa.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Patsy Hunt of Odessa; son: Harley L. Hunt of Levelland; daughters:  Tonya L. Kyser of Odessa; numerous nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son: Terry L. Hunt; two brothers:  A.B. and Sherman; and his sisters:  Irma, Anita, Geraldine, M.L. and Lanora.

The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2019.  Funeral services with military honors will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 1st United Pentecostal Church, officiated by Rev. Allen Harris, assisted by Rev. Terry Pugh.  Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.

Carroll Burnett "C.B." Watts

Carroll Burnett Watts, otherwise known as C.B., passed away on January 27, 2019 at the age of 77.  He was born in San Antonio, TX on March 20, 1941 to Burnett Louis Watts and Thelma Pauline (Phillips) Watts.  Carroll joined the Navy in 1959 and served 10 years as yeoman, first class.  He earned his master's degree and had retired from working as a CPA.

He married Julie Briggs in 1960 and together they had three children:  Sharon Kay, Michael Alan, and Patricia Lynn.  They divorced in 1969.  In 1970, he married Sharon Lynn and they had a son, Christopher Burnett. 

C.B.  trained hunting dogs, including one for President George H. W. Bush.  He managed the Blue Diamond Ranch and guided hunts for 25 years, where he met Tammy and lived out the rest of his years in Marathon, TX.

Mr. Watts is survived by his children:  Sharon, Michael, Patricia, and Christopher; sisters:  Louise Reynolds and Maxine Jones; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Erven L Holley Sr.
Erven Lewis Holley, Sr.

Erven Lewis Holley, Sr., age 79, of Odessa, passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, January 28, 2019.  He was born in Olney, TX on January 28, 1940 to the late Howell and Dolly (Butler) Holley.  Erven married Elizabeth Ann Taylor in 1965 and they had four children. 

Erven  was raised in the Lord's family.  A Christian, he accepted the Lord in Fort Worth.  He began his work career at a young age and was a hard worker.  While working as a roughneck in the oilfield, he also set ceramic tile.  Most recently, he had been employed with Gabe's Casing.  A good man with many friends, Erven was a family man who always took good care of his family.  He raised many family members and was a father figure and mentor to his nieces and nephew - who called him "Uncle Honk Honk."

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Ann Holley; sons:  Lewis Holley Jr. and wife Jeannie and Johnny Holley and wife Jamie; daughters: Jo Ann Woods and Kay Holley; brother:  Jerry Holley and wife Charlotte; sister:  Linda Thurman; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephew:  Brenda, Patricia, and Eddie.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers:  Ralph, Arville, and Grady Holley; and his sisters:  Mildred Roundtree, Marie Carlisle, and Wanda Copeland.

Memorial services will be held at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1:00 pm.  Services will be officiated by Pastor Doy Smithson.  A reception for family and friends to share fellowship, food, and memories follows the services.

Paula Mendoza

Paula Mendoza, age 94, passed away at her home Monday, January 28, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born Monday, January 26, 1925 in San Antonio del Bravo, Mexico to the late Juan and Anna (Calanche) Solis.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Gustavo and Sergio Mendoza; daughters: Rosa Madrid, Bertha Garcia and Bory Mendoza; sister: Barbara Solis; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Gustavo Mendoza;

A Rosary will be recited 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with interment to follow at the Los Angeles Gardens section of the Ector County Cemetery.
