Hilario Carrasco Garcia

Hilario Carrasco Garcia, age 94, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Tuesday, October 21, 1924 in Vado de Piedra, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Jesus and Sixta (Carrasco) Garcia.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Manuela Garcia; sons: Hilario Garcia, Jr. and wife Yanira, and Jesus Garcia and wife Juanita; daughters: Celia Garcia and husband Rosalio, Ana Benavides, Lucia Hernandez and husband Jorge, Esperanza Garcia, and Adela Martinez and husband Arnoldo; brother: Ramon Garcia and wife Elvida; sisters: Consuelo Carrasco and Esperanza Tarango and husband Ramon; twenty-two grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in Coyame, Mexico. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Daniel E. Calvillo 2019
Daniel E. Calvillo

Daniel E. Calvillo, age 46, passed away after an industrial accident on January 15, 2019.  He was born in El Paso, TX on November 26, 1972.  He was a US Navy Veteran and worked in the oilfield as a truck driver. 

Daniel is survived by his mother:  Olivia Murillo and husband Luis; children:  Danielle Calvillo and Alexandra Calvillo, Gabriela Garcia, Aimee Garcia and Xavier Leyva; and siblings:  Azael Calvillo and wife Maribel, Samuel Calvillo and wife Veronica and Rober Marmolejo and wife Elizabeth, Frank Marmolejo Jr. and wife Charlotte, Frances Montoya, Cecelia Morin, and Rebeca Marmolejo.

His father, Frank Marmolejo, Sr., precedes him in death.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home in El Paso, with a prayer service being held at 6:00 pm.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, January 21, 2019 at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery East.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa and Mt. Carmel Funeral Home of El Paso. 

Jorge and Rebecca Suchil
Jorge Luis Suchil and Rebecca Caballero Suchil

Jorge Luis Suchil and wife, Rebecca Caballero Suchil, of Odessa, Texas, departed this life on January 16, 2019 in Municipio de Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Jorge was born in Mexico on July 28, 1966 to Manuel G. and Sabina (Licon) Suchil.  Rebecca was born in Alpine, Texas on March 14, 1966 to Seberino and Gregoria (Acosta) Caballero.  They were united in holy matrimony in Fort Stockton, Texas in August of 1989.

Both Rebecca and Jorge Suchil loved ranching, the great outdoors and music.  Becky was known for naming their cattle.  Jorge was intrigued by Norteno music and loved to sing.  Their children and grandchildren were very dear to them and they built their lives around their family and their ranch. 

Those left to cherish their love and memories are their three daughters; Elizabeth Caballero Suchil and husband Tommy Lesly, Liz Flor Caballero Suchil and husband Gerardo Rubio and Chantal Caballero Suchil, all of Odessa; Three beautiful grandchildren, Mia, Jordan and Damian.  Jorge’s brothers and sisters: Alan Suchil and wife Margarita of Midland, Fernando Suchil and wife Angelita of Mexico, Rogelio Suchil and wife Myriam of Odessa, Rene Suchil and wife Patty of Odessa, Xenia Holguin and husband Fernando of El Paso, Aracely Aranda and husband Arnulfo of Odessa, Petra Porras of Odessa and Teresa Lozoya and husband Jorge of Odessa.  Rebecca’s brothers and sisters: Socorro Rojas of Odessa, Arturo Caballero and wife Juanita of Fort Stockton, Micaela Cepeda and husband Dulces Nombres of Mexico, Ramona Aranda of Lovington, NM., Seberino Caballero Jr. and wife Xochitl of Lovington, NM. And Griselda Rojas and husband Felipe of Odessa. 

Preceded in death by Rebecca’s parents and her siblings, Gustavo Caballero and Armida Corral. 

Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10:00 am.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Melissa Kay "Tomi" Daly

Melissa Kay "Tomi" Daly, passed from this life on Thursday, January 17, 2019.  She was born in Odessa, TX on June 19, 1962.  Tomi married Earl Edward Daly in Amarillo, TX on September 17, 1981.  She was a homemaker and had worked in the business office of the West Texas Cancer Center.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband:  Earl Daly of Odessa; mother:  Delores Buchanan of Odessa; three sons:  Bradley Daly and wife Heather of Silverdale, WA, Jason Daly and wife Shellie of Dallas, and Michael Daly and wife Lauren of Stanton; daughter:  Erica Smith and husband Jordan of Odessa; brother:  John Wheless of Bullard, TX; and twelve grandchildren with one more on the way.

She is preceded in death by her dad: Nolen "Buck" Buchanan and her brother:  Nolen Dwayne Buchanan.

Open visitation begins Saturday with the family to receive friends at the funeral home Monday afternoon from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Funeral services will be at Faith Community Baptist Church, 9902 W. University Blvd. Odessa, TX on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Pedro Lopez Martinez, Jr., age 50, passed from this life Thursday January 17, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Tuesday, March 19, 1968 in Pacoima California to Pedro Martinez Sr. and Imelda Castellon Lopez.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his mother; daughter: Annie Alvarez; brothers: Tony “Pancho” Pineda of Odessa and Artie Martinez of Midland; and sister: Debra Martinez of Midland.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Odessa II Gardens, of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Lloyd Michael "Mike" Hamby

Lloyd Michael "Mike" Hamby, age 68, of Odessa passed away at Focused Care in Odessa on Saturday, January 19, 2019.  He was born in Abilene, TX on July 29, 1950 to the late Tommy and Edwardene (Guinn) Hamby. 

Survivors are his children:  Danielle Hamby and Lloyd Hamby, Jr;  and his siblings:  Billy Jo Lamb and Mary Ann Hamby.

Memorial services will be privately held.

Irma Valdez Franco nacio el 14-Junio de 1956 en Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Falleció en Enero 17-2019 en Juarez, Chihuahua.

Nacida de Guadalupe Valdez Y Maria Dominguez.  Formo su familia con Conrado Franco, tuvieron 4 hijos:  Karlo, Edgar, Jazmin, y Conrado Jr.  Su vida la dedico a ser buena esposa, madre, abuela, hija, hermana, suegra y servir a Dios y al projimo.  Su mayor alegria era tener a su familia reunida, cocinar, y convivir con sus amistades.  Irma era una mujer muy Catolica, cursillista. Pertenecia a la Ultreya de la Iglesia Holy Redeemer, siempre estuvo disponible para ayudar a los mas necesitados.  Irma fue muy conocida por el negocio familiar "Francos Gorditas."

Le sobreviven para recordarla su esposo Conrado, sus hijos:  Karlo (y Rocio), Edgar (y Lorena), Jazmin (y Armando), Conrado Jr. (y Yesenia).  10 nietos:  Omar, Karlo Jr., Jacob, Julian, Marcos, Andrew, Abraham, Sebastian, Aaron, Juan.  6 nietas:  Jasmine, Daisey, Lilly, Alexis, Miranda, Juliyssa.  Su madre:  Maria Valdez. Sus hermanos:  Patty, Ramon, Rosa, Mario y sus respectivas familias.

Irma Valdez Franco, age 62, of Odessa, passed away in Juarez, Mexico on Thursday, January 17, 2019.  She was born in Delicias, Chihuahua Mexico on June 14, 1956 to the late Guadalupe and Maria (Dominguez) Valdez.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband: Conrado Franco of Odessa; daughter: Jazmin Franco and husband Armando Rodriguez of Odessa; three sons: Karlo Franco and wife Rocio Franco, Edgar Franco and wife Lorena Franco, and Conrado Franco Jr. and wife Yesenia Loya, all of Odessa; mother:  Maria Valdez of Ojinaga, CH, Mexico; brothers:  Ramon Valdez and wife Aurora Urias Valdez of Ojinaga and Mario Cesar Valdez and wife Irasema P. Valdez of Odessa; sisters:  Guadalupe Valdez of Odessa and Rosa Isela Valdez de Loera and husband Jose Loera of Ojinaga; and sixteen grandchildren:  Jasmine, Daisey, Edgar Omar Jr., Lilly, Karlo Jr., Jacob, Alyxis, Julian, Marcos, Andrew, Abraham, Sebastian, Aaron, Miranda, Juan, and Juliyssa Itzel; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father:  Guadalupe Valdez; and her brother:  Manuel Valdez.

Rosary will be recited at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday morning, January 24, 2019 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with interment to follow at Odessa II Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Jorge Gabriel Lujan 2019
Jorge Gabriel Lujan

Jorge Gabriel Lujan, age 36, of Odessa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 20, 2019.  He was born in Odessa on March 24, 1982 to Maria Jesus (Cruz) Lujan and the late Jose Israel Lujan. 

Jorge was a loving father, brother and son. He loved the Cowboys and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  Always smiling, you could count on him to try to make you smile.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his mother:  Maria Jesus Lujan; daughter:  Anahi Lujan; son:  Jeremiah Lujan; brothers:  Jose Lujan Jr., Juan Lujan and Victor Lujan; sisters:  Leticia Chavez, Starr Jimenez, Maricela Lujan and Mireya Lujan, all of Odessa and Rosa Lujan of Borger; niece Liana Chavez; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

His father precedes him in death.

Funeral services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2019 with burial to follow at Odessa II Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery.

Elizabeth Ann Skaggs 2019
Elizabeth Ann Skaggs

Elizabeth Skaggs, 70, passed away January 21, 2019.  She is with Jesus and has been freed from the pain of pancreatic cancer. 

Elizabeth was born February 19, 1948 to Jack Melvin Mapes and  Martha Ann Mapes in Haskell, Texas. She attended Matson Community School near Haskell and is a graduate of Odessa High School. She also attended Odessa College.

Elizabeth worked for Ector County Independent School District for thirty years, serving most of those years as cafeteria manager in schools throughout Odessa. She also served as President of the Region 18 School Food Service Association and lobbied for "Universal Free Lunch" in the Texas State Capitol and in Washington D.C. She truly loved kids. Elizabeth also served as an election judge for Ector County Elections for more than two decades.  During those same times she served freely in church activities and ministries. Not only was she an active church member, she was an active and loving Christian.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her above mentioned parents, her baby sister Kathy Mapes, her paternal grandparents Tom and Cortez Mapes, and her maternal grandmother Delia Cornelius.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Caroll Skaggs of Odessa, daughter Kelly Skaggs of Odessa, daughter Melisa Burnett and husband Wes of Odessa, grandson Caleb Burnett of New York City, granddaughter Cayli Burnett of Odessa (Mimi dearly loved her grandkids), sister in law Barbara Skaggs McCafferty and husband Terry of Pattison, Texas, nephew Jason McCafferty and wife Tina of Sandia Park, New Mexico, and niece Amber McCafferty-Littler and husband Jack of Richmond, Texas. She will also be missed by her loving dog Missy, not to mention many, many friends and relatives.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Crescent Park Baptist Church (3002 E. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas). The service will be officiated by Pastor John Copeland. Visitation and fellowship for all in attendance will immediately follow the service in the Large Fellowship Hall

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests that donations be made to the Crescent Park Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.

Belinda Darlene Parsons Petersen Perrin

Belinda Darlene Parsons Petersen Perrin, departed this life peacefully at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas January 21, 2019, at 11:15 in the morning at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 21 days.

Belinda was born January 29, 1952 in Levelland, Texas to Joe Parsons and Doris Dean Parsons. She was married September 1, 1988 to Michael Perrin at the Ector County Courthouse. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Texas-Permian Basin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

She worked in the family business, ranging from remodeling to furniture restoration, to vintage jewelry sales, as well as rental property management, in addition to work at the Counseling Center at UTPB. She encouraged several family members into earning college degrees, including her husband, son, daughter, and at least one grandchild. Each of us is grateful that she did.

Belinda was active in animal rescue, from transporting, to adopting, to networking with support for the annual Fur Ball. In that process, she rescued Lola, Nova, Bella, Pepe, and Polly, all valued family members.

 She is survived by husband Michael Perrin, son Gerald (Rusty) Petersen (Vicky Catoe); daughter Meredith Rene Petersen; grandchildren Michal Petersen (Brittany Huley), Kara Petersen (Vincent Arredondo), Beverly Petersen (Corey Smith), and Matt Dillon Laughlin. Great-grandchildren include Tyler Hulsey, Kaitlyn Hulsey, Linzie Gilmore, Ashley Gilmore, Tristen Johnson, Layla Arredondo, Natalie Arredondo, (due in April), and Brayden Smith.

At Belinda’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of cards or flowers, please donate time and/or money to an animal rescue or shelter of your choice.

The family would also like to recognize the kindness and diligence of the Medical Center Hospital staff, including the Continued Care staff. Their professionalism and human kindness will not be forgotten.

Charles E. "Chuck" Parker

Charles E. Parker (Chuck) passed away Monday, January 21, 2019 in Odessa, TX. He was born Friday, May 20, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois.

Chuck worked for H&S Valve Inc. for many years. He loved to play golf at Sunset Gold Course. Chuck had a laugh you’d never forget. He loved his many friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Olga Parker.
