Asuncion L Carrasco 2018
Asuncion Licon Carrasco

Asuncion Licon Carrasco, age 81, of Presidio, passed away in Odessa on Monday, December 17, 2018.  He was born in Manuel Benavidez, Chihuahua, Mexico on May 9, 1937 to the late Guillermo Carrasco Galindo and Maria de Jesus Licon Hernandez de Carrasco.  Asuncion worked in the oilfield as an insulator.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his four sons:  Onesimo Carrasco, Arnulfo Carrasco, Homero Carrasco and Aldo Carrasco; three daughters:  Belia Carrasco, Maria Dolores Carrasco, and Elsa Carrasco; twenty-two grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

Funeral services will be at a later date in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico with burial to follow at Colinas del Eden.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa.

Alyssa Garcia 2018
Alyssa Flores Garcia

Alyssa Flores Garcia, age 13, left this life Monday, December 17, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Saturday, November 26, 2005 to David Jaime Garcia and Anabell Flores in Odessa.

Alyssa was very strong and always a fighter. She was very outspoken. She just completed fifth grade at Downing Elementary School and was about to go into the sixth grade at Ector Middle School. Alyssa was crafty. She loved animals, especially dogs and her “Chi-weenie” dog.

Those to cherish her love and memories are her parents; brothers and sisters: Joedavid Garcia, Joel Garcia, Emiliano Flores Paredes, Rudy Flores Rodriguez, Jr., Arabella Flores Rodriguez, David Sanchez Garcia, Jr., and Yanitsel Sanchez Garcia; grandparents: Jaime and Minnie Garcia and Anna Maria Flores uncles: Tony Garcia, Eric Garcia and Joe Flores, Jr.; aunts: Judy Diaz and Isabell Soto; and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by grandfather: Joe Flores; and aunt: Valerie Garcia.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday, December 21, 2018 at Acres West with interment to follow at the Odessa II Section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Martha Bowden 2018
Martha Madrene Bowden

Martha Madrene Bowden, age 76, of Midland, passed away at Midland Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 17, 2018.  She was born in Dalhart, TX on July 27, 1942 to the late Rawls Charlton and Cathryn (Newton) Bowden.  She earned her Master's degree in education and was a teacher at St. Ann's Catholic School in Midland.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her sister:  Kay "Pingle" Bowden of Truro, MA and a host of friends and church family.

Rosary will be recited at St. Ann's Catholic Church 1906 W. Texas Street in Midland on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 7:00 pm.  A Memorial Mass will also be held in Midland at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:00 am.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Juanita O Russell 2018
Juanita Owensby Russell

Juanita Owensby Russell, age 58, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Monday, June 27, 1960 in Odessa, TX to the late William Owensby and Iva Smiley.  She was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Michael Buck of Odessa; daughters: Tasha Dunn and husband Jayson of Andrews, Samantha Russell of Odessa, and Shelby Rowlett and husband Jerrod of Weatherford; brothers: Walter and James Hooper, both of Odessa; sisters: Anjanette Hantz, Susan Zemlock, and Sherry Davis and sister-in-law:  Patricia Owensby, all of Odessa; grandchildren: Raygan, Gunner, Sophia, Jerry and Abbigail; numerous nieces and nephews and loving friend: Ann Robertson.

She is preceded in death by her father:  William Ernest Owensby; mother:  Iva Jennings Smiley; step-fathers: James Hooper and Harvey Smiley; brother: Allen Owensby; and husband:  Dennis Russell.

Visitation will be Friday, December 21, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel from 6 to 9:00 pm.  Interment at Ector County Cemetery will be privately held.

Elma N Vasquez 2018
Elma Nichols Vasquez

Elma Nichols Vasquez, age 60, of Pecos, passed away in Pecos on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.  She was born in Pecos on April 19, 1958 to the late Carlos Prieto Nichols and Jesusita Roman (Martinez) Nichols.  She worked for many years at the local convenience store. She was friendly and funny and was much loved.

Elma is survived by her husband:  Pedro Vasquez, Sr. of Pecos; son:  Pedro "Pete" Vasquez, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters:  Alexis Vasquez and Alexandra Vasquez, both of Pecos; three brothers:  Carlos Nichols and wife Alicia of Pecos, Hector Nichols and girlfriend Donna of Odessa, and Salvador Nichols and wife Stella of Pecos; and eight sisters:  Yolanda Garza of Mission, Manuela Lopez and husband Victor of Edinberg, Gloria Baca and husband Ruben of Pecos, Lupe Nichols of Odessa, Eva Martinez of Odessa, Dolores Villescas and husband Oscar of Pecos, and Ramona Molinar and husband Justo of Odessa; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Rosary will be recited at 7 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos, followed by burial at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

Reginald Parker
Reginald Clyde "Reggie" Parker
Reginald Clyde "Reggie" Parker, of Kermit, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. He was born in Alexandria, LA on August 19, 1976 to Rebecca Ann (Netherland) Parker Maloyed and the late Reginald Eddie Parker. He worked as a lineman in the oilfield for Ratliff Electric.

Reggie was a hard worker and amazing man in general. He loved his daughters with all of his heart. He always looked for the best in others and would do anything to help them out. He hated Texas and longed to be back in Louisiana where there are trees. He loved and missed fishing.

Those left to mourn his passing are his parents: Rebecca "Becky: and Don Maloyed of Simpson, LA; wife: Chelsea Parker of Odessa; three daughters: Madison Grace Parker and Avery Renee Wilmes, both of Odessa and Courtney Conley of Huntsville, AL; one sister: Bridget Berry and husband Alan of New Rose, LA; and step-sister: Joy Fletcher and husband James of Anacoco, LA.

Local visitation will be from 1:00 to 9:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held in Simpson, LA with burial to follow at Welcome Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa and Jeane's Funeral Home in Leesville, LA.

Wayne Daniel Halligan

Wayne Daniel Halligan, age 74, of Odessa, passed from this life at Continued Care Hospital in Odessa on December 19, 2018.  He was born in Stewart, MN on April 12, 1944 to the late Steven and Della (Forcier) Halligan.

Mr. Halligan will be fondly remembered by his daughters:  Kim Rout of Webster City, IA, Tammy Jo Smith of Andrews, TX, Renee Susan Duhn and husband Jim of Ft. Dodge, IA, Bobbie Jo Rushing and husband Gerald of Oil City, LA, and Michelle Marie Halligan and fiancé Ross Ruvalcaba of Odessa; son:  John Wayne Halligan and wife DeAnn of Mason City, IA; brother:  Richard "Dick" Halligan of Alabama; sisters:  Phyllis Shwering of Moreland, IA and Tootie Breyford of Boone, IA; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Juan Ramon Baeza Carrasco, age 70, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 in Odessa, TX. He was born Monday, May 31, 1948 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua to the late Ildefonso Baeza Rubio and Felipa Carrasco.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his daughters: Felipa, Irasema, Ciria and Lourdes Baeza; siblings: Olivia, Arturo, Maricela, and Ildefonso Baeza; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 5:00 pm and at 7:00 pm Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Edward Glenn Byrd

Edward Glenn Byrd, age 64, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 in Odessa, TX. He was born Tuesday, July 20, 1954 in Brady, TX to Lem Harvey Byrd and Georgia Barber.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his brother Clarence Byrd of Tulare, Ca; lifelong friend: Debra Terrell of Odessa; several cousins; three nephews and one niece and several other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother: Lem Harvey Byrd Jr.

Olivia Acosta, age 75, passed from this life Friday, December 21, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Friday, August 20, 1943 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua to the late Ildefonso Baeza Rubio and Felipa (Carrasco) Baeza.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her daughter Karen L Ramos of Odessa; and siblings: Arturo, Maricela and Ildefonso Baeza.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Alma Acosta Baeza; sister: Zulema Aguilar; and brother: Juan Ramon Baeza Carrasco.
