Victor Manuel Olivas

Victor Manuel Olivas, age 81, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Odessa, TX. He was born Tuesday, November 30, 1937 to the late Manuel Olivas and Roumalda (Madrid) Olivas in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sons: Jaime Olivas and wife Maria Ysela and Leonel Olivas; daughters: Manuela Olivas; brothers: Jesus Manuel Olivas, Ramon Olivas and Carlos Olivas; sisters: Olympia Valenzuela and Irene Olivas; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Flora Pena Olivas; brothers: Alberto and Oscar Olivas; and sister: Margarita Olivas.

A Rosary will be recited 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

Ashlin Ortiz, age 22, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Ft. Stockton, TX. She was born Thursday, July 11, 1996 in Manati, Puerto Rico to Rolando and Mailyn (Garcia) Ortiz.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her parents; husband: Manuel Gonzalez; daughters: Melody Ortiz and Odalis Gonzalez; brother: Thomas Ortiz; and sisters: Maidelys Ortiz and Lymarie Ortiz.

Oscar M Aguirre Jr 2018
Oscar Muniz Aguirre, Jr.

Oscar Muniz Aguirre, Jr., age 41, was called unexpectedly to his Heavenly home on Monday, December 10, 2018.  Oscar was born to Maria (Muniz) and the late Oscar Madrid Aguirre, Sr. on Sunday, July 3, 1977.  He graduated OHS in 1996.  He married Jeanette Ibeth Guerra in 1999 and together they built a strong and loving family.  They are faithful members of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

Oscar began his career with Wells Fargo, working for 6 years as a supervisor, then went on to work for American General Finance for 3 years as a finance manager.  Junior followed his father's footsteps and began a new career working with Acres West Funeral Chapel.  He had started his hands-on training with his father before Oscar Sr. passed away and had recently begun schooling to become a licensed funeral director.  He didn't need a license to be awesome at his job and he was a valued employee and friend.  Oscar also owned and operated his own DJ business. 

Oscar enjoyed BBQ-ing, going to the lake and spending time with family.  His loyal nature was evidenced by his longstanding and enthusiastic support for the Dallas Cowboys.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his loving wife:  Jeanette Aguirre; four beloved daughters:  Danielle Aguirre, Alexandra Aguirre, Karina Aguirre, and Karisol Aguirre; his mother: Maria Aguirre; his sisters:  Sonia Aguirre Duran, her husband Luis and her children (who he loved and helped to raise as if they were his own):  Brian and Amariah, and April Montoya, her husband Leonel and their son:  Leonel Montoya, Jr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his dearly loved father:  Oscar Aguirre Sr., he is preceded in death by his nephew:  Lazarus Aguirre.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 7:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Elsie Mae Bradford

Elsie Mae Bradford, of Colorado City, TX, formerly of Odessa and De Leon, TX, passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.  She was born Sunday, December 31, 1939 in San Saba, TX to the late Ottis and Jewel Leach. 

Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 58 years:  Gerald Mack Bradford; her son:  Wayne Bradford; one grandson: baby boy Turner; four sisters:  Fay Adams, Lilly Moreland, Jean Shoemate, and Ann Tucker; three brothers:  Clarence "Brother" Leach, her twin: Ray "Buck" Leach and an infant brother:  Jack Leach.

Survivors are two sisters:  Loyce Driver and Joyce Drake, one brother:  Richard Leach; and daughter-in-law:  Angie Bradford, all of Odessa; her sons:  Delton "Dale" Bradford of De Leon, TX and Mark Bradford and wife Jackie of Alexandria, VA; daughter:  Becky Jolley of Colorado City, TX; three grandsons:  Jeremy Bradford of Midland, TX, Blake Turner of Colorado City, TX, Carsten Turner and wife Shelby of Snyder, TX; four granddaughters:  Kristin Hoag and husband Russell of Loraine, TX, Cheyenne and Sierra Bradford of San Antonio, TX, and Sunny Bradford of Alexandria, VA; four great-grandsons:  Milo, Salem, Little Mack, and Colt; and four great-granddaughters:  Autumn, Mylee, Harley, and Faith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Known to many as Aunt Mae Tilly, Mom, Jamma, and Sis, Elsie loved God, her kids, grandkids, and life itself.  She loved rock and roll, Wal-Mart, crafts and jewelry making, and a country lifestyle. She will be missed by all.

Memorial services will be held at the Church of Christ in Colorado City at a later date.

Armida Gabaldon de Martinez, age 53, of Odessa, TX passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018. She was born Monday, September 27, 1965 to the late Florencio Nunez and Lorenza Gabaldon in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Jesse Martinez Jr.; daughter: Celenia Martinez; sister: Guadalupe Gabaldon; grandchildren: Jesse Martinez III, Briana Martinez, Jeseney Martinez, Dayali Armendariz, Marilyn Armendariz, Sherlyn Armendariz, Richard Martinez, and Ethan Martinez.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Martina Gabaldon.

Visitation will start Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Rosary will be recited Saturday, December 15, 2018 and Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with interment to follow at Odessa II Section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Kenneth Boyd Dorrell

Kenneth Boyd Dorrell, age 91, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Odessa. He was born Thursday, April 7, 1927 to the late Floyd and Agnes (Buchanan) Dorrell in Turck, Cherokee County, Kansas.  He was a US Navy veteran and had worked in the oilfield.  He was a radio operator and owned his own commercial refrigeration business.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his daughter:  Maxie Kinsey-Langdon; two grandchildren:  James Byron "Jay" Kinsey and Kenneth Daniel "Danny" Kinsey; three great-grandchildren:  Randall "Randy" Kinsey, Kymberlin Kinsey, and Ashley Nikole Kinsey; and four great-great grandchildren:  Christian Scott Kinsey, Daniel Alexander Kinsey, Rylie Kinsey, and Keilynn Kinsey.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife:  Opal Mae Swope Dorrell; and his sister:  Gloria Chapman.

Sunday from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, visitation will be at the funeral home, Acres West, in Odessa.  Graveside services with military honors will be at Monahans Cemetery in Monahans, TX on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10 am.

Jaron Everett Newby, age 32, passed from this life Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Midland, TX. He was born Monday, October 6, 1986 in Odessa, TX to James Roland Whisenhunt and Peggy Ann Newby.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Stella Rose Newby; sons: Kaiden N. Newby and Hayden M. Creech; daughters: Kyrsten N. Newby and Chloe H. Creech; mother: Peggy Grooms and husband Randy; brothers: Cody Grooms, Devan Grooms, Mitchell Wiggins and Robbie Wilson; and sister: Krystel Woods and Allison Farrier.

He is preceded in death by his father; cousin: Dylan; mother-in-law: Mary; and grandpa.

Concepcion Nevarez Rodriguez, age 87, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018. She was born Tuesday, December 8, 1931 to the late Miguel and Ana Cleta (Rodriguez) Nevarez.  She was born in San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband of 60 years:  Alejandro Hernandez Rodriguez of Odessa; three sons:  Alejandro Rodriguez Jr. of Round Rock, TX and Claudio Alonso Rodriguez and Abel Rodriguez, both of Odessa; daughter:  Carmen Patricia Rodriguez Peterson of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; brothers:  Amalio Nevarez and Jesus Nevarez, both of San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico; seven grandchildren:  Crystal, Mary, Madeline, Gable, Sophia, Daniel and Andrea; and three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son:  Roberto Rodriguez; her brother:  Gerardo Nevarez; and sister:  Maria Nevarez.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Bertha Hernandez; sons: Martin, Joel Francisco, Juan, and Joaquin Hernandez; daughters: Estela Hernandez, Ana Martinez, Maria Magdalena Segura, and Erika Hernandez; brother: Jesus Gines; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son: Alfonso Hernandez; and daughter: Rosa Elvia Hernandez.

Jose Evaro Alvarado, age 82, passed from this life on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Lubbock TX.  He was born Tuesday, December 15, 1936 to the late Tomas and Cruz (Evaro) Alvarado.  Jose loved the outdoors and worked as a gardener.

Those to cherish his love and memories are three sons:  Jose Antonio Alvarado of Odessa, Jesus Manuel Alvarado of San Antonio, and Angel Gabriel Alvarado of Irving; two daughters:  Rosa "Mari" Alejandro of Lubbock and Rosario Venegas of San Angelo; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife:  Mercedes Ramona Alvarado; son:  Tomas Enrique Alvarado; brother:  Miguel Alvarado; and three sisters:  Cleofas Hernandez, Refugio "Cuca" Calderon, and Raquel Hernandez.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Tuesday morning, December 18, 2018 at 10:00 am.  Graveside services will follow at Odessa II Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
