Juan Munoz Samaniego
Juan Muñoz Samaniego
Juan Muñoz Samaniego, age 98, of Odessa, passed away at Seabury Center in Odessa on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. He was born in Presidio, TX on July 15, 1920 to the late Jose and Benigna (Samaniego) Muñoz. He was a farmer and rancher.

He is survived by his sons: Enrique Muñoz, Oscar Muñoz and wife Maria de Jesus, and Arturo Muñoz; daughter: Guadalupe Muñoz Rueda and husband Angel; her caregiver and granddaughter: Nidia Rodriguez and 19 more grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

His parents, siblings, and son: Juan de Dios "LaLan" Muñoz precede him in death.

Funeral services will be at a later date in Ojinaga, Mexico with interment at El Ultimo Refugio.

James D Freeman 2018
James D. Freeman

James D. Freeman, 82, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  He was born in Loraine, Mitchell County, TX  on Thursday, August 27, 1936 to the late Woodrow and Lota (McAnally) Freeman. 

James was a strong-willed, independent man, who fiercely loved life and lived it to the fullest.  James was a veteran in the oilfield industry.  He started working as a roughneck at the age of 16.  Throughout the years, he acquired several nicknames:  Derwood, Puppy, J.D., Old Man, and Dagwood.

On January 14, 2014 at the age of 77, his oilfield career of 61 years came to a halt when he was diagnosed with cancer, but that didn't stop his determination to keep living.  He fought for four years, ten months, and seven days.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are one sister:  Beverly Bilbrey and husband John of Odessa, Texas; daughter: Vickie Scott and husband Donald of Ada, Oklahoma, his son:  James Preston Freeman of Odessa, Texas; and daughter/caretaker:  Cathrin Owens and husband Mark of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; two stepsons:  Wade Hampton and wife Jazan of Odessa, Texas, John Homer Webb and wife Debbie of Odessa, Texas; and one step daughter:  Gaylen Hunt of Odessa, Texas; one foster son:  Owen "Bear" Savage and wife Tracy of Odessa, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents:  Woodrow and Lota Freeman; three brothers:  Clinton Dale, Mike, and Melvin Freeman; and stepson:  Shane Hampton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Roy Lee Epperson.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Billy T Bundick 2018
Billy Thomas Bundick

Billy Thomas Bundick, age 87, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Huntsville Memorial Hospital in Huntsville, TX. He was born Thursday, July 2, 1931 in San Antonio, TX to the late Oscar Lee "Pete" Bundick and Mary Ola (Carter) Bundick. He married Florence Marie Pope December 26, 1951 in Clovis, NM.  She preceded him in death on October 4, 2015.  In addition to his service during the Korean Conflict in the US Navy, Billy was a welder and an ordained Full Gospel minister. 

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sons: Billy Thomas "Tommy" Bundick, Jr. and wife Sissy of Paint Rock, TX and Mark Edwin Bundick and wife Liz of Denver City, TX; daughters: Janet Marie Gryder and husband Duane of Leander, TX and Martha Gail Farnsworth and husband Richard of Huntsville, TX; brother: Johnny Lee Bundick and wife Sharon of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law:  Twilla Bundick; 17 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, and his brother: Eddie Weldon Bundick.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa at 10:00 am, officiated by Rev. Bryan Bundick and Rev. Duane Gryder.  Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm at Littlefield Cemetery in Littlefield, TX.

Active pallbearers will include:  Bobby Owensby, Michael Owensby, Josh Wells, Nobby Grona, Shawn McKenzie, and Brad Bundick.  Jeremy Gryder will be an honorary pallbearer.

Joseph "Joe" Pietropollo

Joseph Pietropollo, age 78, passed away at his home in Odessa on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.  He was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 12, 1940 to the late Vito and Florence (Pepe) Pietropollo. 

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife: Maria del Los Angeles Pietropollo Verdugo Chavez; children: Eddie Dominguez and wife Sandy, Ruben Ramirez, Mucchelle Gomez and husband Albert, Maria Josie Pietropollo, Franchesca Pietropollo, Mario Pietropollo, Bobby Pietropollo, Annette Palomino and husband Carlos, Jakodi Ann Morris, Bersai Pietropollo and wife Itzel, Adalila Urias and husband Alejandro, Araceli Portillo and husband Ulysses, Mari Ann Pietropollo, Joseph Pietropollo and Ruben Pietropollo; seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services to honor his memory will be at Amistad Cristiana, 401 S. Main Street, Midland, TX, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.  There will be a family get-together at 5:00 pm and the service begins at 7:00 pm. After the service, there will be a fellowship meal.

Jose Marcos Peña Veloz

Jose Marcos Peña Veloz, age 74, of Odessa, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Friday, November 23, 2018.  He was born August 24, 1944 in Pedricena, Durango, Mexico to the late Jose Marcos Veloz and Cornelia Peña.

Marcos is survived by his beloved wife:  Lena (Ibanez) Veloz of Odessa; sons: Marcos Veloz of Bedford and David Veloz of Odessa; and five grandchildren: Mikaela, Gabriella, Vanessa, Viviana, and Sofia Rose.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.  Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Interment follows at the Odessa II Section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Tomas Hernandez Melendez

Tomas Hernandez Melendez, age 77, passed from this life Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Crane, TX. He was born Wednesday, November 26, 1041 in Ojitos, Juan Aldama, Zacatecas to the late Apolonio Melendez and Ignacia (Hernandez) Melendez.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Lucy (Garcia) Melendez; sons: Ascención Melendez, Philemon Melendez, Sergio Melendez, Tomas Melendez, Armando Melendez, Izmael Melendez, and Thomas Melendez Jr.; daughters: Christina Melendez, Araceli Melendez, Marisela Melendez, Linda Melendez, Tammy Melendez, and Leticia Melendez Rankin; brother: Francisco Melendez; sisters: Lola Melendez and Micaela Melendez; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Acres West 24 Hour Chapel on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 am, officiated by Pastor Byron McWilliams.  Interment follows at Los Angeles Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.

Michael T Collins 2018
Michael T. Collins

Michael T. Collins, 70,  was born November 17, 2018 to T.R. Collins and Betty Jane Collins in Hobbs, New Mexico. Mr. Collins is survived by his daughter, Julie Kaye Cummings and her spouse Cory Cummings of Andrews, TX; granddaughters, Alexandra, Taylor and Jessica;  son, Cole Collins of Edmond, Oklahoma; brother, Steven Collins of Grapevine, TX, brother, Patrick and Susan Collins of Hobbs; sister, Katherine Collins of Hobbs; and parents T.R. and Betty Collins of Hobbs.

Mike was formerly very active in the Hobbs community and served as the former Mayor of Hobbs, as a Hobbs City Commissioner, and served on the Economic Development Board of New Mexico.

Mike was a Hobbs graduate of Hobbs High School, Class of 1967. He attended Oklahoma University on a track scholarship and remained an OU football fan until the end. Mike also served in the US Army reserves.

During his time in the workforce, Mr. Collins ran a large independent insurance brokerage firm insuring high risk oilfield service. He was a broker/agent for a New Mexico electrical power generation company.  Mike then formed the Michael Collins Group, LLC, a 25 year independently contracted business development company that served as director for many independently owned and operated oilfield service companies from Land Operations, Pipeline, Construction, Oilwell Drilling and Petroleum Refining, to Nuclear diffusion process at American Nuclear sites.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at First United Methodist Church, in Hobbs, NM. Interment will be at Grace Memorial in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Mike’s children wish to sincerely thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes for our family, our father will be greatly missed.

Rayma Gomez 2018
Rayma Elizabeth Gomez

Rayma Elizabeth Gomez, age 54, passed peacefully at her home Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Saturday, June 6, 1964 in Odessa, TX to Raymundo Aguilera and Elodia (Urias) Aguilera.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her parents; sons: Benjamin Lopez Jr. and Fabian Gomez; daughters: Paula and Reba Gomez; brother: Raymond Aguilera; sisters: Delma Aguilera; and eleven grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Antonio Gomez; and five grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited 7:00 pm Monday, December 3, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Odessa II Section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Avira Elizabeth Urias, age 31, passed from this life Friday, November 30, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Sunday, October 4, 1987 to Victor Urias and Theresa Martinez in Odessa, TX.

Liz was a funny, strong, and tough, independent woman, who was well known for being loud. She was beautiful, caring and always put others before herself.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her parents: Victor Urias and Theresa Fierro; sons: Aiden, Elijah and Ezekiel Martinez; daughter: Aracely and Ciyanna Martinez; brothers: Valentin Carrasco, Sammy, Julian and Samuel Martinez; sisters: Nancy Cadena and Molly Rodriguez; and aunts: Veronica Martinez and Elvia Chavez.

Public visitation begins Wednesday, December 5th at 9:00 am.  Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Rodney Bennett, age 54, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 in Odessa TX. He was born Sunday, November 29, 1964 to the late Eddie Lamond Bennett and Peggy Jean Batchelor in Seminole TX.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sons: Erik Bennett, Casey Bennett and Michael Diese; daughters: Heather Bennett, Evelyn Diese and Marissa Diese; brothers: Donnie Bennett, Frank Bennett, Eddie Bennett, Clint Gerard, and Calvin Bennett; sisters: Terri Bennett, Londa Barnes, Louise Driver, Rosemary Driver, Julie Sullivan Miller and Ima Jean; and grandchildren: Faith Diese, Juanita Marie Diese, and Daniel Bennett.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister: Bobbie Jo Fitzgerald.

Visitation will begin 5:00 pm Monday, December 3, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Odessa II Section of the Ector County Cemetery.

Stephanie A Harrison 2018
Stephanie Ann Harrison

Stephanie Ann Harrison, age 57, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Thursday, February 23, 1961 to Roberta "JoAnn" (Mueller) Masters and the late Jack Randall Masters in Crane, TX.  She was her Daddy's girl.

Stephanie was a warrior with a heart of gold.  She enjoyed collecting anything that related to squirrels or coffee and loved animals.  Her three "grand-dogs" has a special place in her big heart.  She was a wonderful wife and mother with the most beautiful smile.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Jeffery Harrison; mother: JoAnn Masters; son: Deston Crane; daughter: Jackie “Spud” Crane; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Odessa, TX.
