Patricia Nicolette 2018
Patricia Snyder Nicolette

Patricia Snyder Nicolette, 77, passed away in the early morning hours of November 13, 2018 at her home in Odessa, Texas.

Patty was born in Columbus, Ohio March 17, 1941 to William C. and Joy Juanita Snyder. Columbus is where she was raised, went to school and met her husband of 56 years, Charles C. Nicolette, at Ohio State University. They married December 15, 1962 and ultimately moved to Texas. She was selfless in her devotion to family and in creating an amazing home for her family. She loved gardening, talk radio, and home design. Everyone had to have their “A” game ready if national politics was the topic.

She is survived by her husband; two children: Rachelle and Guy; daughter-in-law: Gianina; granddaughter: Liv; sisters: Mary (Ted) Schwartz and Sue Shaw; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will remember her life in a private celebration and request that no flowers or gifts be sent. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at ORMC and the staff at Texas Oncology.

Izan Xavier Contreras

Izan Xavier Contreras, an infant, left his tiny handprints on our hearts and went back to Jesus’ arms on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 after only five days on this earth.

Those who look forward to holding him again are his mommy: Yakelin Lujan; daddy: Ricardo Contreras; grandparents: Claudia and Jose Terrazas, Oswaldo Lujan Moya, Maria del Carmen Leticia Martinez Acuna, and Guadalupe Lechuga; great-grandparents: Ofelia and Javier Lechuga, Maria Leyva and Manuela Leyva; uncles: Jose Contreras, Heriberto Iglesias, Alejandro Contreras, Baudilio Lujan, Jovanny Terrazas and Ezequiel Terrazas; and aunts: Yesenia Lujan, Judith Lujan, Ruby Lujan and Yasmin Lujan.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, November 16, 2018 at Los Angeles Gardens section of the Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 

Armando Acosta 2018
Armando Acosta

Armando Acosta, 79, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born April 10, 1939 in Mexico to the late Praxedis and Maria (Trinidad Zubia) Acosta.  He married Nora Elia Villarreal Santoscoy in Acuña, Mexico October 21, 1967.  Armando was a retired teacher and radio announcer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nora Acosta; brothers, Gabriel Acosta and wife Celia of Monahans, Juan Daniel Acosta and wife Socorro Alicia of Chihuahua, Mexico, and Oscar Acosta and wife Maria Elena of El Paso; sisters, Manuela Sanchez of Monahans, Maria del Socorro Duran and husband Abel of Monahans, Maria Magdalena Ingram and husband Bill of Odessa, and Martha Wright of Dallas.

The Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 7 PM at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 9 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Betty Lou Babcock

Betty Lou Babcock, age 79, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018, in Odessa TX. She was born Thursday, October 19, 1939 in Anniston, Missouri, to the late William Otha Nunn and Gertie Irene Smith.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband of 61 years: John Richard Babcock; son: Richard L. Babcock and wife Cathy; daughters: Cathy Babcock Phelps and husband Jay, and Debra Babcock Combs and husband Bernie Rambo; brother: Roy Eugene Nunn; sisters: Beatrice Sweeney, Ruth Reeves, and Beauton Prayor; grandchildren: Jon and Miranda Phelps, Jennifer and Lance Temple, Christopher and Tara Zuber, Crystal and Kenny Myers, Steven and April Babcock, and Brandon and Kira Babcock; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents; brothers: James Nunn, Charles Nunn and William (Billy) Nunn; and sister: Loretta Tatum

There will be a family visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, November 19, 2018. Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel

Bernice Nix Gray, age 85, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Midland, TX. She was born Saturday, June 17, 1933 in Tennessee Colony, TX to the late Fritz Nix and Eula Mae Forrester.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are significant other: Sid Scales;+ son: Guinn Alverson; daughters: Wanda Shipman, Cecelia Gay Ingram, and Amanda Rogers; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son: Allen Alverson; brother: Marvin Nix; and sisters: Mary Evans, Vera Dansby and Millie Bumgardner.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Friday, November 23, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with interment to take place 2:30 pm at Concho Cemetery in Paint Rock, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Nawona Bell Wooten
Nawona Bell Wooten

Nawona Bell Wooten, age 81, passed from this life at Midland Memorial Hospital on Sunday, November 18, 2018.  She was born in Dallas, TX on October 3, 1937 to the late C.F. and Leota (Taylor) Bell.  Nawona taught china painting at OC for many years before opening up a home studio and teaching from home.  She was a loving mom and grandmother, who will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her son:  Bobby Moore and wife Carla of Corpus Christi, TX; daughter:  Debbie M. Bradley and husband Dallas of Midland; brother:  Larry Bell and wife Marilyn; sister:  Claudia Jackson and husband Les; and four precious grandchildren:  D.J. Bradley, Allissa Tupa, Brandi Graves, Erica Brock, and 5 great grandchildren, Destrey Tupa, Jensen Tupa, McKenna Graves, Trenton Graves, and Hayden Brock.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son:  Johnny Moore, and her brother:  Lloyd Bell.

Harvey W Hill
Harvey Wayne Hill

Harvey Wayne Hill, age 81, passed from this life on Monday, November 19, 2018 in Odessa, TX. He was born Tuesday, November 16, 1937 to the late Clarence Hill and Hazel Sleata (Haught) Hill in Hitson, TX.  “Mr. Wayne” became a Christian at the early age of 12.

Harvey was a US Army Veteran. After leaving the Army, he worked for Martin Decker and Standard Sales, then retiring from SMCO.  Mr. Wayne was a Mason and a Shriner. He was also active in the famous Chuck Wagon Gang, where he was head cook for 12 years and Boss in 2001. He was a regular at the 10-4 Lounge, where he had his own parking spot and stool.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

A Masonic memorial service with military honors will be 10:00 am Saturday, November 24, 20 18 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by his cousin, Brother Lynn Money. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Mary Catherine Sanders 2018
Mary Catherine Sanders

Mary Catherine Sanders, age 60, of Crane, passed from this life on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Medical Center Hospital in Crane.  She was born in Odessa on August 27, 1958 to the late Billy Ray and Mary Helen (Bushong) Sanders.  Cathy graduated from Permian High school and after college went to work as a clerk for the Crisis Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Scott Sanders.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her daughters:  Christi Sanders of Menard and Susan Cowart of Amarillo; brothers:  Stephen Ray Sanders of Oregon and David Russell Sanders of Amarillo; six grandsons and one granddaughter.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 1st Assembly of God Church, 1101 N. Lee Ave. Odessa, TX.

Jennifer Kay Carnes Abernathy, age 45, passed from this life Tuesday, November 20, 2018. She was born Saturday, November 17, 1973 in Odessa, TX to Virginia (Bowers) Carnes and the late Bill Carnes.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Daniel Abernathy; daughter: Courtney Nicole Parker; grandchild: Oliver James Rios; mother: Virginia Carnes; and very close friends who were like her sisters.

She is preceded in death by her father; and brother: Ronnie Carnes.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Monday, November 26, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Maria Felix Serrano

Maria Felix Serrano, age 67, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Monday, January 1, 1951 in Presidio, TX to the late Salvador Carrasco and Benita (Valenzuela) Carrasco. 

Maria was very loving and caring and gave her everything to her family.  She could be tough as nails and raised her kids to be strong.  She loved to be serenaded by her son Andy and grandson Moises.  She was very protective of Andy and her grandson Fabian - no one could touch them unless they could get through her.  She was always joking and enjoyed knitting and playing Bingo and scratch offs.  Her favorite meal was spaghetti.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband:  Braulio Serrano; children:  Cindy Flores and husband Cruz, Braulio Serrano Jr., Guadalupe Serrano, Rosalinda Serrano, and Andres Serrano and wife Tannya; siblings:  Samuel Carrasco, Salvador Carrasco Jr., and Sinforosa Gutierrez; fourteen grandchildren:  Moises Flores, Noel Flores, Cruz Flores III, Alexis Flores, Yvette Serrano, Fabian Serrano, Lucero Garcia, Dalila Garcia, Alex Garcia, Omar Garcia, Naila Garcia, Angelica Cardenaz, Brianna Cardenaz, Jaylene Cardenaz; and two great-grandchildren: Madison Flores and Sofia Flores.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son: Macario Serrano; and granddaughter:  Benita Flores.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel Sunday evening at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 1:00 pm.  Interment follows at Odessa II Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.
