Joe Puga Jr., age 85, passed from this life Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in Odessa, TX. He was born Monday, September 11, 1933 in Stanton, TX to the late Jose Puga Sr. and Clotilde (Jasso) Puga.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Dolores Puga; son: Richy Puga; daughter; Dora Linda Savage; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter: Maria Terry Munoz.

Grace Guzman White

Grace Guzman White, age 71, passed away peacefully at her residence Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Sunday, October 27, 1946 to the late Felipe Guzman and Antonia (Holguin) Guzman in Leander TX.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: David Salas White; sons: David White Jr. (Martha), Albert White (Jennifer Gonzalez), Reymundo White (Ursula Salazar), and Anthony Castellano (Kristi); daughter: Cynthia White Booty (John); brother: Felipe Guzman; sister: Mary Jane Saenz; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister: May Lou Gomez; and brothers: Carlos Guzman and Raul Guzman.

A Service of Remembrance will take place 7:00 PM Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, September 17, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at the Odessa II Section of Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Catherine (Cathy) Meyer-Kee

Catherine (Cathy) Meyer-Kee, 61, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in Odessa TX. She was born Wednesday, March 13, 1957 in Denver City, Texas to Charles Ralph Meyer and Willie Marie (Box) Meyer.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her daughters: Suzanne May and Sarah Meyer-Kee; sons: Errich Walton and Tivni Meyer-Kee; brothers: Thomas Meyer and wife Johnny, and Charles Meyer; sisters: Marie Reeves and husband Thomas, Barbara Brown, Beverly Rowe and husband Robert; grandchildren: Jeremiah Chavez wife Nicole, and John Truman May.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday September 15, 2018 at 5:00 PM at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Lisa Wannell Carrasco, age 57, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at her residence in Odessa, TX. She was born Saturday, March 11, 1961 in Talihina, Oklahoma to the late Leroy Willeby and Margie (Alexander) Willeby.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her devoted husband of 33 years: Joe Carrasco; sons: Jojo Carrasco, Jeremy Carrasco, Johnny Rey Bernal, and Reynaldo Duran; daughters: Kami Willeby and husband Denny, and Erlinda Carrasco and husband Javier; brother: Richard Willeby and wife Roxie; sister: Bonnie Tolbert; grandchildren: Alex, Peighton, Aminah and Aniesty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother: Kenneth Willeby; sister: Pamela Willeby and granddaughter: Lyrica.

Viewing will start Monday, September 17, 2018 at noon. A Funeral Service will take place Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Gloria Dawn Ator

Gloria Dawn Ator (Luck) was 85 years old and went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a member of Talley Road Baptist Church. She was a resident of Gladewater Oilfield Camp. She  was born October 20, 1932 in Gladewater, TX. Her parents were George Hayes Luck and Miley Mae (Fifer) Luck.

She graduated from Odessa High School in 1951 and was in the very first graduating class. She was also one of the very first to sign up for Odessa College. She married the love of her life, Henry B. Ator January 21, 1961 in Odessa, TX. Gloria started working at South Western Bell at 18 years old as a cashier and worked there for over 30 years. When she retired from South Western Bell, she went back to work for AT&T. Gloria then left and went to work for the Odessa American. When she finally started retirement, her hobbies included painting, knitting, bowling, making jewelry, and spending time with her grandkids.

She is survived by her son: Michael Brinsfield; daughters: Jannette Anderson, Regina and Moe Kasiri, and Diana and Mark McGee; sister:  Eleanor Shelton; twelve grandchildren;  twenty-three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three nieces, and five nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mom: Miley Mae Luck (Fifer); dad: George Hayes Luck; husband:  Henry B. Ator; brothers: Richard and James Luck; granddaughter: Jennifer Michelle Martha Brinsfield; and great grandson: Benjahmen Parker Giles- Wilson.

She was a loving caring wife and grandmother, and we will remember her until we see her again. We love you mom!

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2018 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Sherilyn Devon Biggerstaff, age 55, of Odessa, passed from this life on Friday, September 14, 2018 in Barstow, TX. She was born in Iraan, TX on Saturday, December 1, 1962 to Frances Shellenberger-Tabor and the late James Ford. She was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband: David Biggerstaff of Odessa; mother: Frances Shelleberger-Tabor and husband Glen of Wills Point, TX; daughter: Tamisha Ford of Dallas; son: Darrell Blakeney and his wife Melissa (who was like a true daughter to Sherilyn) of Odessa; her sister: Tanya Starnes and husband Jay of Wills Point; daughter: Hope Wheaton of Addison, NY; son: Joel Lee of Diamondhead, MS; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Mission Dorado Baptist Church, officiated by Carl Ford. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Leopoldo Torresdey Renteria

Leopoldo Torresdey Renteria, age 89, of Odessa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Odessa on Saturday, September 15, 2018.  He was born in Veteran, Wyoming on Tuesday, November 20, 1928 to the late Ramon and Ana Maria (Renteria) Torresdey. Leopoldo was a retired oilfield worker.

Those left to cherish his love and memory include two sons:  Raul Torresdey Zapata and wife Teresa and Jamie Torresdey Zapata and wife Laura, all of Chihuahua, Mexico; daughters:  Sandra Ramona Torresdey Zapata of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, Leticia Vidal and husband Joe and Anna Wolfe and husband Jorge, all of Odessa, TX and Marcela Torresdey Zapata and husband Efrain of Ojinaga; eighteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife:  Maria Santita Zapata, sister:  Isabel Torresdey, and brother:  Rafael Torresdey.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Isaac Saucedo.  Interment will follow at Odessa II Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Brother Joe Vidal.

Michael Frederick Persson

Michael Frederick Persson, age 48, of Odessa, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Minneapolis, MN on April 7, 1970 to the late Richard Frederick and Carol Ann (Anderson)  Persson.  He was a US Army Veteran.  Mike loved to work with his hands and worked in construction.  An animal lover, he had been a dog trainer in the past and enjoyed dogs, cats, cattle and horses.  He married Joyce Johnson in Odessa on October 6, 2011.  Family always came first for Mike.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife:  Joyce Persson; daughters:  Samantha Simmons and Alyssa Schrader; and son:  Christopher Simmons, all of Odessa; sisters:  Lynn Nelson of Minnesota and Dawn Persson of California; eight beloved grandchildren:  Sereena, Nevaeh, James Jr., Jordan, Salena, Stacy, Kylie, Tony Jr., and one more on the way; niece: Anna Kruger and nephew:  Tony Kruger.

Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.  Funeral services will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Nathan Danial Guise, 35, of Odessa, TX passed away at his home on Friday, September 14, 2018.  He was born in Abilene, TX on November 20, 1982 to Jean (Sonne) Perez and Danial Guise. He was a construction worker.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife: Stefanie Erickson of Beresford, SD; mother:  Jean Perez and husband Sal of Odessa; father:  Dan Guise of Sioux Falls, SD; son: Kaydan Guise of Odessa; daughters:  Mekenze Guise of Odessa, Zaylie Erickson of Beresford, SD, and Zainy Guise of Beresford, SD; brother: Evan Perez and wife Shawna of Odessa; sisters: Tristina Guise of Sioux Falls, SD and Gabriela Perez and Matt of Odessa; grandparents: Salvador and Maria Perez; aunts and uncles: Oscar and Glenda Perez of Odessa, Claudia and Gabriel Leyva of Odessa, Lonnie Guise of Pflugerville, TX, Karen Sonne of South Dakota, and Greta Rehling of South Dakota.

Visitation at the funeral home begins Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at noon. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Larry Hood.

Felipe Navarez Valenzuela
Felipe Navarez Valenzuela

Felipe Navarez Valenzuela, age 91, of Odessa, passed away in Odessa on Sunday, September 16, 2018.  He was born in Presidio, TX on Tuesday, August 23, 1927 to Melquides and Juliana (Nevarez) Valenzuela.  He worked in construction.

Felipe is survived by his loving wife:  Manuela Perez Valenzuela of Odessa; five sons:  Efren Valenzuela of Seagraves, Rigoberto Valenzuela, Felipe Valenzuela Jr., Israel Valenzuela and Jerry Valenzuela, all of Odessa; sister:  Maria Valenzuela; eighteen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three daughters:  Ludivena Chavez, Maria Elena Morales, and Dolores Valenzuela; brother:  Reyes Valenzuela; and one sister:  Hortencia Valenzuela.

Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 19, 2018.  Interment will follow at Odessa II Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery.
