Alexander Moreno, 70, Of Odessa, passed from this life Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Odessa, TX. He was born Sunday, October 12, 1947 in Charlotte, TX to the late Magdaleno and Irene (Gutierrez) Moreno. He met the love of his life Mary Pineda and they married Saturday, May 8, 1999 in Odessa, TX.
Alexander was a wonderful husband, father and step father. He was a hard worker who never spoke ill of anyone or anything. He would do anything he could to help others and he would teach his children a very strong work ethic. He loved the outdoors. Fishing, camping, gardening, barbequing, playing golf, and deep sea fishing. But most of all, he loved his Dallas Cowboys.
Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Mary (Pineda) Moreno; sons: Alexander Moreno Jr. and wife Jennifer of Austin, Oscar Subia, Chris Subia, and Anthony Subia all of Odessa and John Andrade Jr.; daughters: Teri Moreno, Jackie Subia and husband Art both of Odessa; brothers: Adolfo Moreno and wife Rosa of Midland, Larry Moreno of Big Spring; sisters: Janie Malena of Amarillo, Ninfa Garcia of Big Spring, Mary Levario of Amarillo, Alice Robles and husband Felix of Odessa; sister in law: Lolly Moreno of Big Spring and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; son: Joseph Moreno; brother: David Moreno; and brother in law: Valentine Levario.

Daniel Gerald Barker, 59, of Odessa passed from this life Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Odessa, TX. He was born Thursday, March 5, 1959 in Deckerville, MI to the late Gerald and Kay (Crayze) Barker. He was a US Navy Veteran and worked as an RV tech.

Collie “Gene” McWhorter, 79, of Odessa went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2018, at home surrounded by his family, who loved him dearly. A memorial service will be held at Vine Baptist Church on July 30, 2018, Monday at 10am. The service will be officiated by Gene’s nephew, Terry Strawn, as he requested. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
Gene fought a long battle with cancer and never complained one day throughout his illness. Even on his worst days, he always wanted to know how you were doing, which was indicative of what a selfless, caring man he was.
Gene was born on June 5, 1939 in Lytton Springs, Texas to Oscar and Elizabeth McWhorter. He was proud to serve in the Navy as a gunner’s mate. Gene worked overseas in Saudi Arabia in his early years and spent most of his career in the oilfield fishing tools business. He worked as a consultant before retiring.
Gene was an avid fisherman and a life time member of the Bass Club. His other favorite past times were hunting, reading, watching his old westerns, and football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and most of all, being “Papa”.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, the love of his life, Pat McWhorter, step-daughter Susan Slaton and husband Byron, step-daughter Andrea Martin and husband Tommy, grandchildren Ryan Slaton, Jordan Slaton, Taylor Martin, Mallori Hutson, daughter Renee Thompson and husband James, grandchildren Michael Thompson, Shelby Thompson, Ollie Thompson, Roy Thompson, brother Roy McWhorter and wife Pat, brother Ervin McWhorter, and sister Edith Strawn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Ollie James McWhorter, daughter Connie Steen, son James McWhorter, sister Marie Henderson and sister Ruth McFarland.
The family wishes to thank Rosie, Carol, Donnie and all the staff at Home Hospice for their compassionate care in Gene’s final care.

Patsy was born in Memphis, TX on August 19, 1943 to the late Clifford L. and Eva Estelle (Bittle) Austin. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sorely missed.

In the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, is to be found our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Ruben G. Herrera, age 58, of Odessa TX, who passed away July 25, 2018. Ruben was born May 1, 1960 in San Benito, TX to the late Antonio and Olivia G. Herrera. Mr. Herrera united in marriage to Carlota Flotte May 17, 1977 in Odessa, TX and to this marriage were born four children. Mr. Herrera was a Christian at heart and a truck driver. He was everyone’s protector and never met a stranger. He was a gentle soul that enjoyed time with family and friends. He was a hard working truck driver, who also enjoyed spending time with his ten grandkids, church congregation family, and nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife Carlota F. Herrera of Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua; son: Ruben Herrera, Jr.; daughters: Melissa Anchondo and husband Edgar, Melinda Herrera, and Monica Huitron and husband Juan; brother: Rodolfo Herrera; sisters: Toni Herrera and Raquel Herrera, all from Odessa, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lots and lots of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother: Raul Herrera.

Eunice Torres, age 60, of Odessa, passed from this life Thursday, July 26, 2018 in Odessa, TX. She was born Thursday, April 24, 1958 to the late Eliseo and Emma (Perez) Torres in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Eunice loved going to church, and she helped out in the kitchen any time there were events taking place. She was a Pastor’s wife for many years. She was a hard worker who loved to sing and cook for everyone. There was nothing better for her than to be spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Eunice’s memories are her sons: Angel T. Alvarado and wife Michelle, Andres T. Alvarado and Alan Alberto Alvarado; daughters: Lizbeth Torres Alvarado and Zulema Esther Alvarado; brothers: Ruben Torres, Efrain Torres, Ezequiel Torres, Joel Torres and Jose Torres; sisters Esther Estrada and Martha Morales; and fourteen grandchildren who she loved dearly.

Michael loved his Harley. He never met a stranger and everyone he met loved him instantly. He always had a smile on his face. He loved his parents, wife, children and grandchildren. They meant everything to him and he loved them big!

2018. Money was born July 10, 1985 to Gail Belcher-Roberson and Joe
Paul Belcher. He attended Permian High School and later Graduated
from Job Corps where he studied and received his GED Certificate
and Auto Body Repair Certificate.
Money had a passion for old school cars especially Cadillacs. He enjoyed music as well as making music and was known for many of his lyrics. Money always had a car project he was working on. He was a Jack of all trades and was definitely a ladies’ man.
Money was very loved and when you saw Money coming you knew you were in for a good laugh. His smile, laugh, personality and presence will truly be missed.
Money was preceded in death by his Fathers, Joe Paul Belcher and Curtis W. Roberson Sr. Brother, Curvert P. Roberson and a very special Cousin, Christopher Burns.

Francisco Valenzuela, age 92, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Medical Center Hospital. He was one of eleven children born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on Friday, May 28, 1926 to the late Crescencio and Maria de Jesus (Tavarez) Valenzuela. He was a farmer.
Francisco was a hard working man who loved to garden and to share the vegetables that he grew. He was generous in every way. He enjoyed singing and dancing and a little tequila.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his daughter: Maria Amelia Ramirez and husband Oswaldo "Chuco"; brother: Juan Valenzuela; five grandchildren: Yesenia Garcia and husband Luis, Silvestre "Nico" Ramirez and wife Maria Jesus Quiroz, Melchor Ramirez and wife Melissa Ortiz, Gilberto Ramirez, and Eduardo Ramirez; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren with another on the way.

Ramon Galindo Alvarez, age 75, of Odessa, passed away at Deerings Nursing and Rehabilitation on Friday, August 3, 2018. He was born on Wednesday, February 3, 1943 in El Paradero, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Pedro Galindo Venegas and Manuela Alvarez (DeAnda) Galindo. He was a farmer and worked for many years at Marfa Village Farms.
Ramon was a great father, brother, grandfather, and human being. He had a loving heart and was one of the most hard working and humble men you would ever meet. We will always hold dear the memory of his smile, laughing and making jokes.
