Maria Cruz Gomez, age 83, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at Focused Care in Crane, TX on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. She was born in Tierras Nuevas, Chihuahua, Mexico on Friday, May 3, 1935 to the late Cresencio and Maria de Jesus (Tavarez) Valenzuela.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Eric Gomez and Jose Valenzuela, both of Odessa, Jesus Gomez and wife Lina of Wilcox, AZ, and Alonzo Gomez and wife Alma of Odessa; daughters: Sylvia Molina and husband Samuel of Lubbock, Maricela Valenzuela and husband Sergio, and Juana Sierra and husband Angel, all of Odessa, and Patricia Baltierrez and husband Jose of Wilcox, AZ; brothers: Francisco Valenzuela and Juan Valenzuela; twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Patricio Gomez; daughter: Irma Gomez; several siblings; and great-grandchild: Jesslyn Anahi Martinez.
Rosary will be recited at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ruth Alma Cox-Luster, age 86, of Pecos, TX passed from this life on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. She was born in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas on Wednesday, May 18, 1932 to the late Ray Richard Cox Sr. and Gladys Pearl Archer. She worked an LVN for 23 years until retiring due to injury. An animal lover, Ruth dedicated her life to rehoming abandoned and unwanted animals. She was very involved with the Citizen's for Animal Protection, rescuing abuse animals when she lived in Houston. She was instrumental in getting the animal shelter built in Pecos and volunteered for Grand Companions in Alpine. A natural caregiver, Ruth helped many in her community with their pets in so many ways, from helping to feed them to nursing them back to health.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Michael Luster and wife Terri of Austin, TX; daughters: Helen Luster Vernon and Leslie Conn, both of Pecos, TX; grandchildren: Michael Luster, Jr. and wife Michelle, Nichole Pacheco and husband Peter Pacheco Sr. and Kenneth Luster and wife Dewi, and their mother Connie Luster, Austin Vernon and Cody Vernon and great-grandchildren: Harley and Wyatt Vernon, Tyler, Kyle, Bryce, and Ayden Luster, Peter Jr, Ava, and Joseph Pacheco, and Olivia and Lillian Luster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son: James Weston; and siblings: Ray Richard Cox Jr., Lloyd Thomas Cox, Norma Jean Cox, Willard Eugene Cox, Wanda Mae Cox, and Edwin Leroy Cox.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at West Park Baptist Church in Pecos, TX and at a later date in Springhill, LA. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Leroy James Wiest, age 84, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was born in Bastrop County, TX on October 10, 1933 to the late Joe J. Wiest and Lillie Marie Vyvjala. He married Margaret “Maggie” (Brotzman) Wiest in Las Vegas on February 22, 1991. He owned and operated Little Feet Enterprise.
Those left to cherish his love and memories are his beloved wife of 27 years: Margaret “Maggie” Wiest; son: David Wiest and wife Dana; daughter: Darla Shultz; brother: George Wiest; nephew: James Wiest; as well as 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Santos Bustos Lemons, age 93, of Fort Stockton entered eternity on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. She was born in Shafter, TX on Sunday, November 2, 1924 to the late Esteban and Leonor (Ruelas) Bustos.
Santos "Chana" was a homemaker, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was very active, loved to travel, and enjoyed her family very much. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved joking around. She had her own special way of giving advice. Santos enjoyed ceramics, needlepoint, baking, gardening and crocheting. Santos was a Guadalupana with St. Joseph Catholic Church and was devoted to service to others, volunteering to help at the Senior Citizen Center and Community Action, as well as helping with funeral meals at the church.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her sons: Ray Milan and wife Viola of Midland, Johnny Bustos and wife Charlene of San Angelo, and Ramon Vasquez and wife Dianne of Odessa; daughters: Dorothy Carrillo Salinas and husband Rupert of Odessa, Enriqueta Leyva and husband Ruben of Ft. Stockton, and Corina Milan and J. T. Murphy of Austin; brothers: Luis Bustos and wife Lee of Odessa and Jesus Bustos and wife Ermila of Ft. Stockton; sisters: Beatrice Nix of Laredo and Maria Luisa Goclan and husband Jim of Jacksonville, FL; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Guadalupe Milan, and brother: Matilde Bustos.

Kenneth Gilmer James Sr. was born February 26, 1953 in San Angelo, TX. He was the son of Joan and Gilmer James. Kenneth passed away on May 24, 2018 at his home in McCamey surrounded by a host of family and friends.
He was one of the true oilfield workers. He enjoyed his job, and loved meeting new people, fishing and camping, and being outdoors. Family was a joy to him. Jokes and stories were some of his greatest features. His family followed the pipeline and then the oilfield. Kenneth loved to share stories of trucking and operating heavy machinery. He always had a smile, no matter how bad he felt.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, father, and the mother of his children, Sue Tinney James.
He is survived by his wife: Sherry James; three sons: Kenneth G. James II and wife Sarah of Hallsville, TX, Kyndall James and wife Amy of San Angelo, TX, and Joshua Ray James and wife Stephanie of McCamey, TX; two step-children: Matthew Smith and wife Alisa of Bridgeport, TX and Beth West and husband Mike of Sulphur Springs, TX; brothers: Tommy James and wife Rita of McCamey and Tony James and wife Lynn; sister: Dyana Glenn and husband David. He was a loving PaPaw to thirteen grandkids and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous other family and too many friends to list.
Open visitation will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. A family gathering will be in McCamey at 5:00 pm on Saturday at the Upton County 4H Building on Highway 67.

Graciela Saenz de Torres, age 75 of Andrews, passed from this life in Odessa at Medical Center Hospital on Friday, May 25, 2018. She was born in El Mulato, Mexico on January 8, 1943 to the late Salvador and Balbaneda (Rodriguez) Saenz. Graciela was a homemaker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Those left to cherish her love and memory include her loving husband: Adan Torres; five sons: Federico Juarez, Cruz, Juarez, Fermin Juarez, Roberto Juarez, and Ivan Juarez; four daughters: Martha Morales, Lorena Carrasco, Gabby Gomez, and Ninfa Madrid; three brothers: Ricardo Saenz, Hector Saenz, and Laurencio Saenz; sister: Lupe Ramirez; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Rigoberto and Ruperto Saenz, and a sister: Elvira Aranda.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico with interment at Cementerio El Mulato.

Tony James Forbes, age 58, passed on into eternity on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He began his earthly journey in Brownfield, TX on Tuesday, November 24, 1959, born to Barbara Diana (Graham) McCraw and the late William James Forbes. Tony married Karen Lloydean Tachell in Odessa on February 22, 2009. He had served in the US Army and worked as a tool pusher in the oilfield for Big Dog Drilling.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his beloved wife: Karen Forbes; mother: Diana McCraw; three sons: Robert Dickerson, Craig Forbes, Lloyd Washburn; daughter: Katrina Mendenhall; brothers: Rodney Forbes and Ronny Forbes; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was born Friday, July 3, 1970 in Odessa, TX to Guadalupe (Pando) and Eusebio Hernandez, Sr. Rita was a very photogenic person and enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Her husband Uriel was her soul mate. She loved being his work out partner and working out six days a week.
