|Violet Mae Walker|
God gained another angel Sunday, January 22, 20107. Violet Mae Walker went to be with her Lord and Savior on this day. She was born on January 5, 1928 to Hattie and Fred McElyea. Violet led a very full life with her beloved husband Ray Walker. They had three children Denyce Guyer, Tammy Henderson, and Ritchie Walker that she adored and cherished. Violet retired from Medical Center Hospital after working twenty plus years as a switchboard and telephone operator. She was an avid student of God's word and loved her Church of Christ family.
Violet was a rock for her family whom she loved caring for. She surrounded herself with her grandbabies and great grandbabies until she took her last breath. Violet was a self-taught painter who loved to watch Bob Ross and learn new techniques. She loved her gardens and playing with her flowers. She would spend hours outside tending to her yard. One of her favorite pastimes was sitting outside and drinking coffee. She crocheted beautiful blankets for her family and liked to take them on road trips. She would sit and read Louis L'Amour books. She left her family with a legacy of strength and love that will be cherished always.
Violet was preceded in death by her loving parents, beloved husband, three brothers and two sisters. Also her three children and two grandchildren.
Left to celebrate her life is her brother Randy McElyea, her grandchildren: Amber and husband Jason Tolbert, Vernon and wife Lori Hodgkins, Stormie and husband Shane Carter, and Brittany and husband Scott Smith; eleven great-grandbabies: Sadie, Joby, Avery, Dakota, Jessica, Greg, Cheyanne, Shawnda, Brandon, Hunter, and Wyatt; and one great-great grandbaby, JoJo and one son-in-law, Jimmy Henderson. Also left to love her are her numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews that cherish her greatly. The family would like to thank Home Hospice of Odessa that has become like a family to us in helping to love and care for Violet, especially Kim, Zulima, and Angie who helped to make her last days so very comfortable and peaceful.
