Wendell Dayne Drinkard, age 80, of Odessa passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital, going home to glory and ending a long battle with cancer. He was born in Brownwood, TX on December 11, 1935 to the late Jeremiah and Ada (Lee) Drinkard.
Wendell was a US Air Force Veteran. Wendell was a long time member of the community, having lived in Odessa some time ago and then returning here again several years back. He loved to bar-be-que and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. He was a member of Faith Community Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife: Judy Drinkard of Odessa; sons: Mark Drinkard of Alamogordo, NM and Eric Drinkard of Odessa; and his grandchildren: Lauren Drinkard of Euless and Jacob Drinkard of Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and four brothers: Preston, Herman, Jerry and Von Dell.
The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Friday evening from 6 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Faith Community Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Wayne Shelton. Interment will follow at Odessa Garden II of Ector County Cemetery. Aline Peterson, age 91, of Odessa, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. She was born in Plum, TX on Monday, March 16, 1925, to the late Albert and Lena (Thompson) Manuel. She worked in assembly and quality control for Texas Instruments.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her daughter: Charles Etta “Pat” Peterson of Odessa; sisters: Grace Perry of Waco and Rosetta Columbus of San Antonio; two granddaughters: Anissa Callaway of Houston and Shayla Cortinas of Helotes; and three great-grandchildren: Christopher Peterson of Houston, and Elise and Xavier Cortinas of Helotes. She also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews and all of her honorary loved ones and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Charlie Peterson; son: Michael Lee Peterson; and four brothers: Luscious Rhone, Otis Rhone, Elmo Rhone, and Alvin L. Manuel.
A wake will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 27, 2016. Funeral services will be at St. James Baptist Church, 2212 East 11th Street, Odessa on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 3:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Samuel Buhl. Interment will be on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Rose Hill Gardens of Ector County Cemetery at 10:00 am. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Sherman Melvin Hughes, 48, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Odessa. He was born in Abilene, TX on Monday, July 10, 1967 to the late Sharon Joann Walton and Edward Hughes.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his brother: Chad Hughes of Nixon, TX; his sister: Frances Elder of Odessa, TX; numerous nieces and nephews: John, Jolynn, Tonya, Zack, Kyla, Joshua, Katelyn, Morgan, Darin, Jazzmin, Shiana Valee, Kaley, Jaden, Melonie, Blake, PaTrisha, Phyllis and Larry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece Jean.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his two sons: Ricky Rodriguez and wife Melissa of Odessa, TX and John Rodriguez and wife Reyna of Rankin, TX; two daughters: Suzanne Ramirez and husband Roy of San Angelo, TX and Yolanda Bradberry and husband Michael of Iraan, TX; two brothers: Crecencio Rodriguez and wife Linda of Rankin, TX and Raymond Rodriguez and wife Romy of Midland, TX; six sisters: Carol Armendarez of Rankin, TX, Laura Salinas and husband Leroy of Rankin, TX, Sally Munoz and husband Zaragosa of McCamey, TX, Ofelia Teal of Midland, TX, Mary Ellen Rodriguez of Midland, TX, Delfina Delgado and husband Gilbert of Sheffield, TX and 24 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Albertano and Rosa Rodriguez; four sons: Joe, Michael, Albert and Paul Rodriguez and sister: Ethel Mae Rodriguez.

Norene Neota Booth, age 101, of Odessa, TX, passed from this life at Buena Vida Nursing Home on Friday, May 27, 2016. She was born in Cotton County, OK on Monday, March 29, 1915 to the late Clarence and Frances (Dockery) Edward. She married James “Bo” Vollie in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1980.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her daughter: Beverly Martin of Odessa, TX; son-in-law: Shane Carter and one grandchild: Lisa Ann Carter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Our precious Denyce “Dema” Guyer went home to be in heaven on May 29th, 2016. She finally gave up her five year fight with cancer. She was born November 8th, 1952 to her loving parents, Violet and Ray Walker. She was a beautiful artist and supported her family by working as a florist and in several positions at Medical Center Hospital.
Dema loved lighthouses, dragonflies, flowers, making crosses, horses, music, and the ocean. She loved spending time with her dearest friend Paula on her cruise. She was exceptionally talented at making candy during Christmas. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved her wintergreen Lifesavers, lemon drops, coffee, chocolate covered cherries, and margaritas. Above all else, she loved being with her family and especially her grandbabies.
This wonderful soul is preceded in death by her Daddy Ray Walker, sister Tammy Henderson, brother Ritchie Walker, son Scott Anderson, and two husbands, Steve Anderson and Bob Guyer.
She will be greatly missed by her Momma Violet Walker; two sons Dakota Guyer, Vernon Hodgkins and wife Lori; her daughter Stormie Carter and husband Shane; four grandbabies Jessica, Greg, Cheyanne, and Avery; her niece Amber Tolbert and husband Jason, great niece Sadie and great nephew Joby who will miss their BeBe. And so many family members that treasured her.
Visitation will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. This special life will be celebrated at a memorial service at West University Church of Christ at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2016, officiated by Brother Mike Hildreth.

Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Lorena Salvatierra Holguin of Odessa, TX; four daughters: Stephanie Cantu and husband Nicholas of Odessa, TX; Raquel Cardenas of Houston, TX; Lorraine Cobos and husband Miguel of Odessa, TX; LeAnn Alaniz of Odessa, TX; one brother: Luciano Holguin Jr. and wife Juana of Odessa, TX; three sisters: Irma Guevara and husband Ruben of Odessa, TX; Laura Reyes and husband Robert of Snyder, TX; Delma Diaz and husband Luis of Midland, TX; eight grandchildren: Gaige Cantu, Devyn Briseno, Azelia Cobos, Zada Cobos, Michelle Cobos, Davina Estrada, Urijah Estrada and Sadieann Estrada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father: Luciano Holguin Sr.; mother: Elisa Holguin; and brother: Ruben Holguin.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are his five sons: Isidro Monje and wife Guadalupe, Jose Margarito Monje and wife Viridiana, Luis Monje, Baltasar Monje and Dionisio Mora; four daughters: Patricia Monje and husband Jaime, Gabriela Monje, Santos Adriana Monje and Minerva Monje; one sister: Magdalena Monje; 36 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Colleen Elizabeth (Esman) Allums, age 58, of Odessa, TX, passed
from this life on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born in Odessa, TX on January 22, 1958 to the late Robert
and Bobbie (Glasgow) Esman. She married Ronnie Allums in Odessa, TX
on Thanksgiving Day in 1978 and they enjoyed 38 years together. She
worked as a mail carrier.
Colleen was a very sweet and caring woman. She was a believer in the Lord and always walked in His footsteps. Colleen never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off of her back. Her three dogs Maggie Mae, Lela and Delilah were her world. She loved Celtic Irish music and always wanted to go to Ireland.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Ronnie “Smokey” Allums of Odessa; several cousins, aunts and uncles: Mary and Sam Dennis, Cathy Patterson, Donna and David Nimmons, Laconnie North, Deberah Patterson Holsworth and husband, and her best friend: Leisa Collins.
