|Barbara June “Bobbee” Funk|
Barbara June “Bobbee” Funk, age 73, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Hospice House of Odessa. She was born in Midland on November 18, 1939 to the late Jesse Lee Barber, Jr. and Bessie Louise (Flournoy) Barber. She was a homemaker, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother.
Bobbee put family first and liked researching her family’s genealogy. She always put everyone else’s needs before her own and never took time for herself. Bobbee was a loving mother and caretaker who was very tolerant - just look at her kids! She rarely lost her temper, but when she did – you had better watch out. Bobbee loved animals and dancing (in her younger days). She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison and other country stars. Her hobbies were helping others and collecting rocks. You would find them everywhere – in her purse, in boxes, and especially all over the yard. The kids called them her “Dammit Rocks”.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons: Donnie Lawson and wife Catherine of Freeman, MO and Sammie Lawson of Midland; daughter: Lisa Hale and husband Glen of Midland; brothers: Carl Barber and wife Janet of Overland Park, KS and Jesse Tony Barber III and wife Deannie of Hamilton; sisters: Kathy Womble and husband Don of Crowley and Bonita Lakey and husband Jerry of Midland; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Glen D. Lawson; second husband: Carroll Funk; grandson: Harley Don Lawson; and great-grandson: Oren Michael Lawson.
Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd. in Odessa, officiated by Don Womble. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Charles Lawrence Rennicks, age 59, of Odessa, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Sienna Care Center in Odessa. He was born on September 9, 1953 in Galesburg, IL. He was a Presbyterian and a US Marine Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Arjyra Rennicks.

Charles Jeryl Walker, 75, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Odessa, Texas. He was born on July 18, 1937 to Lowell Walker and Inabelle (Hugey) Walker in Carrollton, Georgia. He was a welder.
Charles was a really good dad, grandfather and husband. He was a “BIG” people person who loved to visiting and talking with everyone. Charles loved fishing and welding. He enjoyed riding around the neighborhood in his golf cart. His baby was a miniature horse named “Skeeter” whom he so loved. “Papaw” will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Mary Walker; sons: Sheldon Rodgers and wife Dianna, Chad Walker and wife Amy; daughter: Amy Arnold and husband Eric; seven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren, all of Odessa.
A memorial service will be held at Vine Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 between 11 am and 1 pm.

Stanley Michael Carter, age 64, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2013 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. He was born in Roby, TX on August 19, 1948 to the late L.A. Carter and Willie V. (Givens) Carter. He worked as a cook.
Stanley is survived by three brothers: Earnest Carter and L.A. Carter, both of Lubbock and Ronnie Carter of Austin; sisters: Willie Mae Carter of Monahans and Sammye Crosby of Odessa; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd. Odessa, Texas from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
|Jesus V. Almance|
Jesus V. Almance, age 92, of Odessa passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Deerings Nursing Home. He was born in La Hacienda, Presidio County, Texas on October 9, 1920 to Jesus Carrasco Almance and Genoveva (Vasquez) Almance.
Jesus was a great husband to Trinidad Ramirez for 43 years and the best “Abuelito” you could ask for; who was very supportive of his children and his daughter in laws. He was also very caring and an easy person to get along with, who never said a bad word. Jesus loved reading the Bible and loved to eat (especially goat and eggs). He enjoyed horses, working outside in the yard, playing guitar and saxophone.
He is survived by his sons: Jesus G. Almance of Ojinaga, Chih, Mex, Auden Almance and Pedro Almance both of Odessa; daughter: Olga Horton of Odessa; brothers: Pedro Almance and Sabino Almance both of Presidio, Enrique Almance and Salomon Almance both of Odessa, Apolinar Almance and Conrado Almance both of Marfa; twelve grandchildren and twenty – six great grandchildren plus 1 on the way.
A rosary will be held at Monday evening at 7:30 pm, April 8, 2013 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father Frank Chavez. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Ector County Cemetery. Roselle Cleo Born
Roselle Cleo Born, age 84, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, TX. She was born in Nolan County, TX on August 11, 1928 to Clinton Leroy Harrison and Winnie Ruth (Anderson) Harrison. She was a business woman who sold real estate and insurance and worked in banking, as well as some modeling in her early years. Roselle owned and managed several stores and lived in multiple locations all over the US, finally settling in Odessa, TX in 1976.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter: Rosemary Born Stovall of Odessa; son: Clinton E. Born of Georgetown; brother: Wildred Lynn (Bud) Harrison of Odessa; sisters: Pansye Goldston and Ruthelle Finnerty, both of Odessa, Juanita Rutar of Lubbock and Mildred Thorn of Milledgeville, GA; and four grandchildren: Staff Sgt. Joshua Born of Dyess AFB Abilene, Christopher Born of Chicago, IL, David Born and Brian Born, both of Sacramento, CA.
Roselle was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of over 44 years: William Marion Born.
Visitation at Acres West Funeral Chapel will be Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Loraine Cemetery in Loraine, TX on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Dorthy Kay Shedwin was the sixth child born to the union of Johnny
Dorthy attended school in Odessa Texas.
She medical retired from Ector Junior High School as an
assistant cook. She
professed in Christ and was baptized at an early age.
Dorthy was a member of Pilgram Rest Baptist Church for
several years, under the leadership of Reverend Leonard Jones.
Dorthy later moved her membership to King Soloman Baptist
Church under the leadership of Reverent G. T, Garnett, where she
served as a faithful member until her death.
She passed from this life
in Odessa on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the age of 63.

Glenn Worth Gober, age 77, of Odessa, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his home. He was born December 26, 1935 in Stacey, TX – a small community that became Stacey Reservoir and is now Lake Ivie. He was the only son of F. A. and Ruby (Terry) Gober with six sisters. Glenn was a retired heavy equipment operator, a union member and worker for Southwestern Portland Cement Company for over 35 years.
Glenn was a hard worker and could be considered a jack of all trades. He was also a master gardener and could grow just about anything. He could often be seen working in his yard. In his free time, he was a diehard sports fan who never missed a Cowboys game and was a lifetime supporter of Odessa High football. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake. He loved talking on his CB radio and his handle was “Bluetick”.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Jo Evelyn (Twilligear) Gober of Odessa; son: Daniel Gober of Odessa; two daughters: Pamela Sue Shirley and husband Mickey of Hallsville, TX and Glenna Hill of Odessa; three sisters: Mary Frost of Lindale, Naomi Smith of Richland Springs, and Gail Sloan of San Saba; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Gilda Gober, Patsy Locker, and Jerry Faver.

Deborah Jean Kappes, age 58, of Odessa passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born on April 6, 1955 in Lawton, OK to Bill Minor and Barbara Jean (Medford) Minor. She earned her master’s degree in education and was a financial aid director at Odessa College.
Survivors are her husband: Terry Kappes of Odessa; sons: Terry Dean Kappes of San Angelo, Christopher Gene Kappes and wife Amber of Edmond, OK, Christopher Scott White and partner David of San Francisco, CA, Jeremy Kent White and wife Heather of San Marcos; daughters: Tammy Walker and husband Trey of Spring, Amber Nicole Kappes-Vargas and husband Daniel of Austin and Wendy Cooper and husband Grady of Benbrook; parents: Bill and Barbara Minor of Odessa; brother: John Minor and wife Nancy Stout of Odessa; sisters: Kathy Graham and husband David “Dave” of Spring, Cindy Hurtado and husband Ernie of Canyon, Renee Koonz and husband Ronnie of Odessa; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friday, April 12, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Pecos to the late Manuel and Timotea (Matta)
Ulate. He worked as an
insulator and was Catholic.
