Gilberto Sanchez Mata
Gilberto Sanchez Mata, 55, of Odessa died November 2, 2012 at his residence.

He was born June 30, 1957 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

He worked as a truck driver in construction.

Survivors are his parents: Consuelo & Armando Mata of Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico; Brothers: Armando Mata of Odessa, Jose Luis Mata of Chihuahua, Mexico, Ramiro Mata of Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico; Sister: Luzelva (Mata) Cardenas of Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Funeral services will be in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Heather Marie Pierce

Heather Marie Pierce, age 36, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012 at her residence in Odessa. She was born in Amherst, Texas on November 20, 1975 to Leonard Bruce Pierce and Tommie Cheryl Conley.

Heather was inducted on February 27, 2005 into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Eta Tau Chapter.  She worked as a paralegal secretary at a local attorney’s office in Odessa. She loved her job and her boss always said it showed in her work because she always did an awesome job. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed going to the rodeo, car races and trips to Balmorhea. But above all Heather was a loving mother who always put her children first and always took care of her family.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her fiancé: Bryan Burrows of Odessa; mother: Tommie C. Sebolt of Odessa; father: Bruce Pierce and wife Sherry of Sudan, Texas; paternal grandmother: Yvonne Pierce of Sudan, Texas; maternal grandparents: Mary Conley of Odessa and Bertha Sebolt of Flower Mound, Texas; daughters: Jonna Marie Wilson, Savanah Lavonne Wilson and Morgan Dawn Smith, all of Odessa; brothers: Heath Allen Pierce and wife Angie of Sudan, Texas, Damon Conley Bara of Lubbock, Texas and Thomas Wayne Sebolt of Odessa; sister: Lodainer Kay Sebolt of Tom Bean, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, November 9, 2012 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Bro. Dewey Blevins. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Sudan Cemetery in Sudan, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Porfirio Garza
Porfirio Garza, 63, of Odessa died November 3, 2012 at his residence in Odessa. He was born January 2, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas to the late Rojelio Garza and Marcela Gonzalez Garza. He worked as a forklift operator.

Porfirio was a Christian man. A loving husband and father, he was very protective and brave. He was an excellent husband, dad and grandfather, and he loved his family with all of his heart. Porfirio was a very happy person who loved to joke around and to sing. He also liked boxing.

Survivors are his wife: Norma Cariaga Garza of Dallas, Texas; sons: Jesse Garza and wife Samantha Garcia and Jonathan Garza all of Dallas, Texas; daughters: Janette Garza and husband Abraham D’Zul of Dallas, Diana Garza of Dallas and Ana Garza of Ojinaga, Mexico; brothers: Roy Garza and Victor Garza both of Dallas, Jose Alfredo Gonzalez of Brownfield, Texas, Manuel Gonzalez and Lupe Montes both of Odessa; sisters: Rosario Garza , Irma Garza, Gloria Alvarez, Irina Juarez , Alma Tercero and Cristina Montes all of Odessa and Marcela Gonzalez of Willcox, Arizona; five grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Acres West 24 Hour Funeral Chapel officiated by Kevin Romero. Charles A. Groff
Charles A. Groff
Charles A. Groff, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Dallas, TX. He was born in Millersburg, Ohio on November 6, 1936 to Delois (John) and Eloise Groff. Charles was an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. He joined the Navy after graduating in 1955. He married Carol Ann Welch on June 8, 1957 on Olena, Ohio. They resided in California for the next two years. After returning to Ohio, they started a family. Charles went to work at Rotary Printing until 1982. The family then moved to Odessa. Charles worked for RoMac Printing, Permian Printing, and Star Printing. In 1986, he opened his own printing company, Total Graphics, later changing the name to Cash Printing. Charles also worked as Santa Claus for 5 years at Music City Mall. He loved talking with the children. Charles was very involved with his church, Antioch Christian Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margie Sundheimer.

He is survived by his wife and children: Ray (Kathy) Killian of Freemont, OH, Kathy (Kyle) Blevins of Odessa, TX, Terry (Cay) Groff of Odessa, TX, and Charlotte (James) Fulfer of Odessa, TX; grandchildren: Patrick Moffit, Dennis (Bekah) Moffit, and Rachel (Joel) Bratten of Ohio, Joe Ramirez, JC Ramirez, Heather Groff and Damien Groff of Odessa, TX, Kristin Killian of Conn. and Kevin Killian of Ohio, Christopher Fulfer of Odessa and Zachary Fulfer of Odessa; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister: Linda (John) Patterson of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Betty Marie (Cramer) Dean

Betty Marie Dean, 85, of Odessa passed away peacefully with her husband by her side, Monday November 5, 2012 at Medical Center Hospital. Betty was born in Garnett, Kansas to Stanley and Lena Cramer. She had two younger brothers, Bill and Bob Cramer.

She married Max E. Campbell on June 1st, 1947. They were blessed with two children, Dale Robert and Patricia Ann. Betty and her family moved to Odessa, Texas in 1960. Her husband, Max Campbell passed away in 1977.

On February 20, 1981, she married H.A. (Dobber) Dean. With this union, Betty was blessed with three step children whom she also loved very much.

Betty retired after 30 years from A-1 Construction where she worked as a bookkeeper.

Dob and Betty went to the West Side Senior Center and were also members of West University Church Of Christ. She loved all the people from the center and from their church and always looked forward to going.

Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother, Stanley and Lena Cramer and her brother, Bill Cramer.

Betty is survived by her husband H.A. (Dobber) Dean of Odessa, son Dale Campbell and his wife Connie of Plano, Texas, daughter Patty Gonzales and her husband Joe of Alamogordo, NM, step son Danny Dean and his wife Daveda,  step son Steve Dean and his wife LaNell, step daughter Cindy Parker and her husband Clint, all of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Cramer and his wife Glenna of Stillwater, OK, and 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was loved so much and will be missed by many.

Memorial services were held at West University Church of Christ at 10 am on Thursday, November 8, 2012, officiated by Bro. Roy Jones.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Teresa Ann (King) Harrison

Teresa Ann (King) Harrison, age 51, of Odessa, passed from this life on Monday, November 5, 2012, at Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa, Texas.  She was born in Odessa on April 18, 1961to Linda King. 

She spent her childhood playing softball and participating in Girl Scouts.  Teresa graduated from Odessa High School in May of 1979.   

On January 5, 1980, she married Robert Harrison.  She raised her step-son, Joshua, from the age of 5.  She had a daughter, Kallie, in 1990, then a son, Jake, in 1995.  Teresa spent many summers as a Girl Scout Leader and baseball coach.  She led the baseball team to 1st place one year.  She loved to be outside and tend to her flower bed and garden.  She also loved to scrapbook and take pictures.  During the winter months, she loved to put together puzzles with her children.  She lived by the philosophy of “You only limit yourself.”  She also enjoyed talking on the phone.  She spent many nights talking with her best childhood friend, Linda.  She always kept a good spirit throughout her life.  She will be dearly missed and always loved. 

Teresa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents:  P.V. and Virginia King, mother-in-law:  Kathryn Harrison; nephew:  Jesse Andrus; uncles:  Doug Kindel and Kennith Kindel; and maternal grandparents:  Cecil and Bobbie Kindel. 

She is survived by her husband:  Robert Harrison; children:  Joshua Harrison, Kallie (Kendrick) Barragan and Jake Harrison; mother:  Linda King; brother:  Parrish King; two grandchildren: Dustyn and Kamryn Harrison; best friends:  Linda Cross and Marcella McKinney ; brothers and sisters-in-law:  Sandy Walker, Marc and Kathy Andrus, Tommy and Janet Wood, Bob and Susie Holy, Gary and Diane Harrison, and Jimmy and Doreen Harrison; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.   

Memorial services will be privately held.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

George Orton Graves

George Orton Graves, age 64, of Goldsmith, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at his residence.  He was born in Alamogordo, NM on August 22, 1948 to Tina (Shoemaker) Day and the late Bill Graves.  He worked as a welder and in the oilfield.  He was a US Army Veteran.

He is survived by his mother:  Tina Day and husband Sam of Seagraves, TX; son:  Kevin Graves of Odessa; and sister:  Priscilla (Prissy) Gonzales and husband David of Crowley, TX. 

He is preceded in death by his father, his brother:  Jimmy Graves, and his wife:  Sandra Jo (Dismuke) Graves.

Graveside memorial services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell.  Acres West Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the care of his arrangements. 

Donnie Allen Tiller

Donnie Allen Tiller, age 61, of Midland, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at his residence.  He was born in Sayre, OK on July 22, 1951 to Virgle and Dorothy (Bland) Shipman.   He was an oilfield worker and a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his son:  Donnie Lynn Tiller of Midland and daughter:  Billie Alderidge of Odessa.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son:  Ronnie Allen Tiller.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W University Blvd, Odessa. 

Eddie Lee (Rhodes) Henson

Eddie Lee (Rhodes) Henson, age 83, of Midland, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas.  She was born in Paducah, TX on April 4, 1929 to the late Walter and Georgia (Schmitto) Rhodes.  She was a homemaker, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She owned and operated the Hideaway Lounge in Midland for many years.  After retirement, she focused on being “Granny Lee” to her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter:  Alina Goree of Midland; three sons:  Randy Henson of Midland, Larry Henson of Brownfield, and Ricky Dancey of Mississippi; eight grandchildren:  T.J., Raney, Brooke, Bubba, Rikki Lee, Reon, Rayna, and Pheadra; several great-grandchildren; and many, many friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons:  Delbert Reon “Ronnie” Beadle, Roy Wayne Beadle, and Tracy Joe Henson; sister:  V. Darlene Truelove; and her special friend:  Bertie May Kelly.

Graveside Memorial services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas on Friday,  November 16, 2012 at 3:00 pm, officiated by Phil Stroud.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas.

Billy Ray Simpson

Billy Ray Simpson, age 79, of Odessa, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez TX State Veteran's Nursing Home in Big Spring.  He was born in Tredway, TX on March 18, 1933 to the late Montgomery and Leona (Berry) Simpson.  Mr. Simpson was employed by Southwestern Bell as a service technician and was a Korean War Veteran of the US Navy. He was saved and baptized at West Park Baptist Church in August of 1963.   

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his son: B. R. Simpson and his wife Gina Darol of Boyd, TX; step-son:  Mickey Dean Glover of Odessa; step-daughter:  Melody Lynn Macaloso of New Haven, Conn.; adopted daughter:  Joann Wright of Odessa; sister:  Fern Walker of Lubbock; brother:  Clarence Simpson of Amarillo; and grandchildren:  Rikki Lou Simpson and Clifton Dell Huie, both of Ft. Worth.    

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, officiated by Brother Jess Little.  Interment will be privately held at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, TX, where he will be laid to rest with his mother.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas. 

Lucky Mary King

Lucky Mary King, age 60, long time resident of Odessa, passed from this life on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Medical Center Hospital.  She was born in Colorado Springs, CO on September 18, 1952.  She worked as a waitress.  She was a beloved mother to four daughters and “Mimi” to eight grandchildren.

Lucky had many hobbies.  She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and gardening.  The first thing she ever grew was morning glories.  In her younger days, she would ride horseback through the mountains.  She was a cat lover who liked to spend quiet time at home reading Western romance novels and working jigsaw or crossword puzzles. 

Those left to carry on her legacy are her daughters:  Shawn Tae Pace and Sonja Watzel and husband Charles, all of Colorado Springs, CO and Saleana Salge and husband Woody and Corinna Thompson and husband Jeff, all of Odessa; her brother:  James “Jimmy” Dennis of Colorado Springs, CO; and her eight dearly loved grandchildren who called her “Mimi”.

Her mother:  Bonnie Mae Fitzpatrick; grandmother:  Olivia Belle Fitzpatrick; aunts:  Mary Boatwright and Connie Knox; and uncles:  Less Fitzpatrick and Perry Fitzpatrick, preceded her in death.

Open visitation will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the funeral home from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel. 


Jerry Douglas Overby

Jerry Douglas Overby, age 67, of McCamey, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Hospice House of Odessa.  He was born in Escalon, CA on June 23, 1945 to the late Samuel Bernis Overby and Ethel Louevelyn (Hewett) Overby.  Jerry married Beverly Harrison in McCamey on March 8, 1969.  He was a US Army Veteran.   A born again Christian, Jerry was a Baptist. 

A jack of all trades, master of none – Jerry worked at a variety of jobs.  He worked as a cotton ginner, plumber, heating and A/C tech, electrical engineer, hot tub repairman, tool pusher and driller.  He was a workaholic, who worked, worked, and then worked some more.  However, about ten years ago, he took up golfing and he enjoyed a good game of 42.  He also watched the Cowboys play.  He had a love/hate relationship with the Cowboys – He loved to hate them and hated to love them.  Family reunions were very important to Jerry.  An Overby tradition, he had a dry sense of humor.  A giving person, he was generous to a fault.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 43 years:  Beverly Overby of McCamey; two sons:  Eric Overby and wife Rhonda of Odessa and Daniel Overby and wife Jamie of Crane; brother:  Carrol Lee Overby of Tuscaloosa, AL; three sisters:  Jeanie Burton of Monahans, Alice Faye Wigglesworth of Covington, and Judy Williams of Odessa; five grandchildren:  Tyler, Alex, Tessa, Tiffany, and Jordon; and two great-grandchildren:  Aaron and Ethan.

His long-time loyal companion, his dog Mr. Custer, preceded him in death only a couple of weeks ago.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 19, 2012 at Eastside Baptist Church in McCamey, officiated by Murry Sauders.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice House of Odessa or to the American Cancer Society, would be appreciated.
