Pauline V. Dominguez

Pauline V. Dominguez, 65 years old, went to be with her God on Thursday morning, December 11, 2008 at her residence in Odessa.

She is preceded in death by her oldest daughter:  Lorrie Ann Dominguez, who passed away at age 32.

She is survived by her daughters:  Jo A. Dominguez, Venice White and husband Joe, Venessa Valenzuela and husband Santiago, Matilda Loya and husband Benito, and Micaela Villa and husband Joe.  She is also survived by her grandchildren:  Rene Mendoza, Jr., Anna M. Granado, Andrew J. Dominguez, Miguel D. Loya, Monica J. Ortiz, Daniel Ortiz Jr., Manuela Rivas, Bryan D. Marquez, Manuel Rivas Jr., Tatiana A. Villa, and Jacob C. Valenzuela.

She was born June 7, 1943 in Big Spring, TX and raised in El Paso, TX.  She lived in El Paso until she moved to Odessa in 1983.  Pauline started working at the age of 15 to help raise her brothers and sisters.  At the age of 27, she started her own family.  For 26 years, she was a single parent to six daughters; two sets of twins and two younger daughters.  She raised these girls on her own for their whole lives.  At times she had to work two to three jobs to put food on the table and clothes on their backs.  Not once did she ever complain of the sacrifices she made for her daughters.  Most times she went without personal items, just to give her daughters what they needed.  Until her very last breath, she gave herself fully to those 6 girls.  Most people might say that her daughters were her life and probably wondered, “How could one woman do such a good job raising these girls on her own?”  She would have said, “The Lord doesn’t give you anything you can’t handle.  So I consider myself lucky to have survived my girls.”

Pauline was a hard working woman. She worked through her illness for six long years, without missing a day.  Every single day, she woke up and went to work, not letting her family or co-workers know the pain she suffered.  She worked up to her last days with us.  Her daughters say she was a great role model and raised each of them to work as hard as their mother.  She was a very strong and independent person.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and co-workers.

Funeral services will be privately held.  The family will advise immediate family, friends, and co-workers of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Pauline’s name to Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas Ave., Odessa, TX 79761.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
