Albon Don "Don" Page, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa at the age of 65. He was born in Knox County, TX. He was a honky tonk musician. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Church of God.
He is survived by his father: Sydney Page of Odessa, and his brother: Randy Page of Odessa.
Prior to services, there will be a luncheon Saturday at 11:30 at Mission Odessa, 315 W. 8th Street, Odessa. Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Jesus Connection Church, 4410 Andrews Hwy. Odessa with John Adams officiating. Cassi Jo Hoover was born Wednesday, July 20, 1983 in Odessa, TX to Roy Wayne Otwell and Arvoda Jan (Jennings) Otwell. She was a graduate of Odessa High School and worked as an accounting clerk for Investment Corporation of America. She married Donald Hoover March 25, 2005 in Odessa. She was taken from this life unexpectedly Saturday, August 16, 2008 as a result of a car accident near Wellman, TX. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother and will be dearly missed.
She leaves behind her husband Don Hoover of Odessa; one son: Cayden Jennings Otwell of Odessa; a daughter: Reagan Kennedy Hoover of Odessa; her parents: Jan Jennings Otwell and Wendell Johnson of Odessa; father: Roy Otwell of Millburn, Oklahoma; two brothers: Bobby Otwell of Valley City, ND and Joe Williams of Odessa; and two sisters: Jaci Lewis of Clarksville, TN and Laci Otwell of Valley City, ND.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday; August 21, 2008 at Parker Heights Christian Church (1414 E. University Blvd) officiated by Bro. Dewey Blevins. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Carla Dean Dwyer passed from this life August 16, 2008 at Buena Vida Nursing Home in Odessa. She was born December 27, 1935 in Waynesboro, VA to Carlos Albert Wright and Etheleen Rose (Ivy) Wright. She worked in quality control on Intel computer chips. She was a free spirit – an artist, actress, and dancer, and an avid collector of penguins, dragons, and other knick-knacks.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: James William Davis and Michael Alan Davis.
She was a beloved mother to three daughters: Etheleen Anne Wright, Michelle Alice Allen, and Rosemarie Ivy Dwyer and two sons-in-law: Lawrence Howard Israel and Gerald Royd Hegstad. She was grandmother to eight cherished grandchildren: Dennis James Stewart, Damon William James Stewart, David William Joseph Stewart, Dustin William Jeremiah Stewart, Alicia Michelle Allen, Daniel Dewayne Allen, Joshua William Allen, and Abigail Rose Simmons and ten treasured great-grandchildren: Destan, Devon, Justin, Decklan, Dylan, Dakota, Drake, Kalianne, Ethan, and Hailey.
Memorial services will be 4:00 pm Wednesday; August 20, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University Blvd, Odessa officiated by Chaplain Owen Sharp.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Buena Vida Nursing Home and Compass Hospice for the loving care and attention they gave to Mom.

Phillip King Fisher, age 72, died Monday, August 18, 2008 at Regency Hospital of Odessa. He was born in Des Moines, IA to Cecil and Bonnie Fisher. He was a mechanic.
He is survived by two daughters: Cecilia Mack of Phoenix, AZ and Celeste Bennett of Ft. Smith, AR.

Antonia Esquirdo Garza, 64, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away to join her Lord and Savior at the gates of heaven on August 20, 2008 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Lubbock, TX on December 10, 1943 to Francisco and Wencesalada Esquirdo. She married Guadalupe Garza in Lubbock on December 19, 1965. They had three children; Rachel, Rafael, and Rebecca. Mama Bear, or Grandma Bear, as she was called by her daughters and grandchildren, will be remembered for her extraordinary strength and the protection that the home she created offered to her family over the years.
Survivors include her husband: Guadalupe Garza of Odessa; daughter: Rachel Garza of Odessa; daughter: Rebecca Flores and husband LeeRoy of Odessa; grandchildren: Raul Quiroz, Bridget Garza, Alexizandria Rubio, Rafael Rubio, Destinie Flores, Yasmeen Flores, and Sierra Flores; great-grandson: Joe Adam Martinez, Jr.; and two brothers: Francisco Esquirdo of Greenfield, CA and Antero Esquirdo of Lubbock, TX.
Visitation will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, August 25, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Selvan E. McAfee, Jr. died Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Hospice House of Odessa. He was born Monday, September 1, 1941 in Corpus Christi, TX to Selvan E. McAfee and Arah Leila (Hemphill) McAfee. He was self-employed as a tile installer in home improvement projects.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa McAfee of Odessa and his sister, Ila Ward of Alvin, TX.
To honor his wishes, no services are planned.

Augustin Franco Ramirez “Pancho”, age 68, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at a neighbor's home in Odessa. He was born in Pecos, TX on March 20, 1940. He was Catholic.
Pancho worked in well service, but was really just an old cowboy. He broke horses and loved to care for animals. He enjoyed the outdoors – working in the garden and working “sunup to sundown”. He was always willing to help someone out, especially his only daughter, and never met a stranger. His favorite saying was “Kick it on back.”
He is survived by three sons: Eliot Ramirez, James Ramirez, and Marty Ramirez, all of Odessa; one daughter: Stephanie Taylor of Dallas; three sisters: Raquel Talamantes of Venus, CA, Ida Hernandez of Pecos, TX, Rita Ramirez of Merced, CA; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Santos and Esther (Franco) Ramirez; two brothers: Juan and Alfredo Ramirez; and one sister: Lucia Reyes.
Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 pm Monday, August 25, 2008 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church officiated by Father Bernardito Getigan. Burial will follow at Los Angeles Garden of Ector County Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: James Ramirez, Marty Ramirez, John Ramirez, Joseph Ramirez, Seth Ramirez, and Thomas Espinoza. Kimberly Vargas, age 37, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008, at her residence. She was born Thursday, January 28, 1971 in Odessa and was a housewife.
She is survived by her husband: Jose Vargas of Odessa; parents: Mike & Sandra Robison of Odessa; one sister: Lori Whitmire of Wink; and one brother: Richard Robison of Odessa.

Leonard Earnest Mangan, age 75, passed away at Medical Center Hospital, August 25, 2008, due to complications with cancer. He was born on October 2, 1932 in Hillsboro, Texas to Joseph and Nora Mangan. Leonard served in the Korean War. He also worked for 45 years and retired with Yellow Freight Lines. He was an organizer and steward for the Teamsters Union.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Joe Mangan, Jr., his parents Joseph Levi Mangan, Sr. and Nora Mangan, and a son Leonard Mangan, Jr.
Leonard is survived by the love of his life of 52 years Permelia Jean Smallwood Mangan of Odessa; a son: Shilo Craig Mangan of Odessa; two daughters Delores Mangan of Odessa, Lavonna Mangan Pyles and husband Larry E. Pyles, Jr. of Odessa; one grandson: Paul Leonard Mangan of Odessa; one sister: Billie Jo Holliday and husband Marshall of Odessa as well as a host of other extended families.

Duane Merritt, age 46, of Odessa, passed from this life Monday, August 25, 2008 at his residence in Odessa. He was born December 20, 1961 in Easton, PA to Edward and Kathy Merritt.
He is survived by his wife: Wanda Merritt of Odessa; four sons: David Merritt of San Diego, Calif., Jeffrey Prince of Odessa, and Michael Merritt and Bobby Merritt both of Hobbs, NM; one daughter: Frances Prince of Dallas; his mother: Kathy (Bosley) Merritt of Nazareth, PA; one sister: AnneMarie Merritt of Bethlehem, PA; three brothers: Richard Merritt of Virginia Beach, VA, Edward F. Merritt of Bath, PA and Luke A. Merritt of Nazareth, PA; step-parents: Gerald Caffrey and Linda (Merritt) Caffrey; and five grandchildren.

Donald Lee Wells, age 69, of Odessa, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. He was born Friday, February 10, 1939 in Houston, Harris County, Texas to the late George Woodrow and Fredricka (Schmidt) Wells.
Donald was known to be a very ornery person, but had the biggest heart ever. When he married Elaine, he fulfilled every dream she ever had and made her understand that she truly was a worthy person. Donald loved to be intimidating, but had a heart of gold, and would keep tabs on all his friends. Even though he was disabled and at home, he would call his friends, just to see how they were all doing.
Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife: Elaine Wells of Odessa; four sons: David Wells of Oklahoma City, OK, Jeffrey Parker of Miami, FL, Mark Tippit of Odessa, and Rodney Tippit of Houston, TX; four daughters: Donna Perez of Elizabeth, NJ, Natalie Dennis of Carthage, TX, Cindy Poole of Burleson, TX and Laura McClendon of Arlington, TX; his step-mother, Irene Wells of Houston; two sisters: Pat Brown of Huntsville, TX and Janice Gallaway of Houston, TX; nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind Rhonda Tippit, his daughter-in-law, who was very special to him.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Hans Wells and one sister, Charlotte Ellison.
Memorial services are 10:30 am, Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Vine Baptist Church with Brother Johnny Touchstone officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
