Dollie Louise Boddie

On Sunday, September 2, 2007 "Little Dollie" left us unexpectedly and suddenly in Lubbock, Texas.  Dollie Louise Boddie Riggs was born Feb. 10, 1953 in Waco, TX to Billy Jack Shrum and Sarah Elizabeth Wheeler Shrum.  When she was young, her family moved to Odessa, where she attended school.  Dollie loved playing pool, and was in many pool leagues in Odessa, including the Youth Pool League at the Golden Cue, teaching the game to many young people.  She loved kids and would always take time to talk to them especially the ones who stared at her for being "small".  She would explain to them that "God made her special and different", never making them feel bad for staring.  She loved being with her family and friends.  She loved animals and ususally had a houseful of pets.  Dollie loved life and lived it to the fullest.  Dollie will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Dollie was so happy when her only child, Angela Kay, was born and loved to talk about all she did in school and every accomplishment Angela made.  She truly loved her daughter.  When her grandchildren were born, she was the most excited she had ever been in her life.  She just knew they were the prettiest and smartest and most talented children ever born.  Amanda Kay and Amber Briana Paige Lawhone were truly the lights of her life and she never tired of talking about them and bragged on them to anyone who would listen (and some who wouldn't!).  Dollie always included the girl's cousins, treating them as if she was their "Nana" too, and they loved her very much.

Dollie attended Zion Christian Fellowship in Odessa.

Dollie worked in several different carnivals for quite a few years and truly enjoyed the travel and friends she made.  She loved visiting with her carnival friends when they came to town, making everyone feel welcome whether they were new or old friends.

Dollie was preceded in death by her parents - Billy Jack Shrum and Sarah Hall, step-father - Barney Hall, and a brother - Billy Eugene Shrum.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Riggs of the home, daughter Angela Kay Jackson and husband Curtis, granddaughters Amanda and Briana Lawhone, all of Odessa; brother Johnny Shrum and nephew Shawn Shrum, both of Colorado City; sister-in-law Cindy Shrum, brother Charles Stanley Nabours of Roswell, NM, nephew Brian Shrum and wife Angela and two great-nephews and four great nieces, all of Odessa.  She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
