Rosa married Geno, the love of her life, on September 11, 1957 in Pecos. She and Geno settled in Odessa in 1961 where they raised seven children. Rosa was a very passionate woman who enjoyed life.  She loved shopping.  Shoes and purses were on the top of her list.  Music to Rosa spoke many languages.  In the kitchen it meant cooking with flavor while she danced to the sound of the beat.  The time she gave to her loved ones was always full of surprises.   She was a funny and witty person.  Papi Geno knew well how she loved to fuss with him.  It was her way of letting him know, “I love you Geno”.  To her children and grandchildren, Mami Rosa, expressed love for life.  She made them laugh and gave them words of encouragement.  She wanted life to be better for them than it was for her. Rosa learned to whistle way back when and made her loved ones laugh when those “unexpecting guys”, heard the whistle.

Those left behind to cherish her love and memories are her husband, Genovebo “Geno” Olivas of Odessa; two sons, Ifrain Olivas and Victor Olivas; five daughters, Patricia Garcia, Beatrice Escarcega, Maribel Olivas, Joann Olivas and Veronica Mendez all of Odessa.
