Ricky Alan Watson

Ricky Alan Watson, lifetime resident of Odessa passed from this life on Thursday, August 24, 2006. He was born Thursday, May 14, 1964 in Evansville, Indiana to Marvin and Francis (Cutsinger) Watson. 

Ricky married his loving wife, Kathy on May 12, 1989 at the Zion Christian Church in Odessa. He was a hard worker, a mechanic who enjoyed working on almost anything.  He also liked to recycle, putting things back into use.  He lived life to its fullest, never slowing down.  Ricky was a risk taker who knew no fear.  He was an animal lover as well as a people person who loved to help others.  His grandson, Landon, was his pride and joy.

Those left behind to cherish his love and memories are his wife Kathy Watson; his mother Francis Monte and step-father James Bishop, his mother-in-law Wanda Allen;  one son:  Joshua Flores; and one daughter:  Paula Wheeler all of Odessa; his father-in-law Ray Sumrall of Abilene; three brothers:  Rodney Jones of Valparaiso, IN, Darryl Masterson and Chad Hall both of Odessa; three sisters:  Malinda Jean Dollison, Sandra Clemment, and Dee Dee Johnson, all of Odessa; and one beloved grandson:  Landon Elliot Fulton. 

Ricky was preceded in death by his grandparents:  Willie and Jean Lewis, his father-in-law (and best bud) Kenneth Allen, and his brother David Monte.

Viewing is scheduled for 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Saturday, August 26, 2006 and Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  A memorial service will be held 3:30 PM Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Zion Christian Church with Dr. Dewey Blevins officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

Henry Wayne Fulfer

Henry Wayne Fulfer passed from this world on Friday, August 25, 2006, at the age of 58.  He was under Hospice care at home.

He was born August 14, 1948 in Mineral Wells, TX to Oliver Frances (Slim) and Willie Faye (Faye) Fulfer.  He was a long time worker for Permian (Reddy) Ice Company of Odessa and then Basin Ice Company of Midland. 

His wife Minnie Faye Fulfer preceded him in death, as well as both of his parents.

He is survived by four sisters:  Jean Brown and Frances Sutton both of Lubbock, TX, Sandra Burns and Penny Evans, both of Odessa; one son; two daughters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and his best friend and brother-in-law, William Evans.  We love you dearly.

Visitation will be 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Sunday, August 27, 2006 and 8:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday, August 28, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, August 28, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Brother Roy Jones officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Donna DeLaney

Donna DeLaney, age 61, of Odessa passed away Saturday, August 26, 2006 in Vian, Oklahoma.  She was born Sunday, July 22, 1945 to Earl E. Smith Jr. and Katy Winnelle (Sullivan) Smith.  The lives of Donna and her mother, Winnelle Smith, were both cut short on Saturday as a result of a tragic car accident.

Known to many as “Grannie”, Donna was a fun-loving person.  She loved flowers and enjoyed working in the garden.  She liked leg warmers and had a large collection of about 20 pair.  She also enjoyed painting.  She will be remembered as a colorful person.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband:  Charles DeLaney III of Odessa, her father:  Earl Smith, Jr. of Las Cruces, NM, three sons:  Joe Walker of Chico, TX, David Walker of Odessa and John Thomas DeLaney of Wisconsin; one daughter:  Shannon Tarbox and husband, Timothy, of Odessa, one sister:  Katy Winkley of Waldron, AK; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Jimenez officiating. Pallbearers will include:  Andrew Allen, Jared Tarbox, Bobby Walker, Steve Scrogum, David Walker, and Joe Walker.  Honorary pallbearer will be James Glidwell.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Manuel Colomo

Manuel Colomo, age 87, longtime resident of Marfa, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2006, at Doctor's Hospital in Laredo.   Mr. Colomo had been the owner and operator of Colomo's Handy Store in Marfa for 38 years.   He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning an European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal with two bronze stars, an Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal, a Good Conduct medal, a WWII Victory Medal, a Meritorious Unit Award Victory Ribbon, a Combat Infantry Badge, Honorable Service Lapel WWII and two Overseas Service Bars.  He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Hortensia Colomo of Laredo; two sons:  Manuel Colomo, Jr. and wife, Cruz  of Corpus Christi, and George Colomo and wife, Liz of Laredo; one daughter:  Anabelle Gonzales and husband, Frank of Marfa; one sister:  Corina Cenneciros and husband, Ruperto of Marfa; one brother:  Luis Colomo of Bakersfield, CA; ten grandchildren:  Nicole Colomo, Connor Colomo, Catherine Riojas, Crissanta “Crissy” Colomo, Victoria Colomo, Kristin Colomo, Jeffery Gonzalez, Sandra Gonzalez, Gracie Lara and Frank Gonzalez, Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren:  Justin Riojas, Jeffery Riojas, Gabriel Gonzalez, Christian Gonzalez, Stephanie Quintana, Samantha Quintana, Roxy Marquez, Robert Lara, Jr. and Miranda Gonzalez.

Mr. Colomo was preceded in death by one son:  Oscar Colomo.

Rosary will be said 7:00 PM Sunday, September 3, 2006 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 4, 2006, at St Mary's Catholic Church with Father Anthony Amoako-Attah  officiating. Interment will follow at Merced Cemetery in Marfa.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

Jerry Wayne Stone

Jerry Wayne Stone passed from this world at Medical Center Hospital of Odessa on Friday, September 8, 2006, at the age of 61.  He was a longtime resident of Iraan, Texas. 

He was born November 25, 1944 in Childersburg, Alabama to the late E.L. and Dorothy Mae (New) Stone.  On January 5, 1967, he married his sweetheart, Betty Miller in McCamey, TX.   They had five children and enjoyed 39 happy years together.  Jerry worked as a pumper for Corvette Oil Corporation.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was also an animal lover.  He was a hard worker, but he enjoyed coin collecting in his spare time.  He was a member of the Westview Church of God in Odessa.

Those left to cherish his love and memories include his wife:  Betty Stone of Iraan, TX; two sons:  James Stone of Mayville, AR and Jacky Stone of Harpersville, AL; three daughters:  Kimberly Calvert of Odessa, TX, Rebecca Stone of Harpersville, AL, and Treasure Harris of Sylacauga, AL; one brother:  Roger Stone of Harpersville, AL; three sisters:  Carolyn Abbott of Santo, TX, Linda Reynolds of Douglasville, GA, and Lou Magouyrk of Harpersville, Al; and sixteen grandchildren.

Funeral services to honor his memory are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, September 11, 2006 at Grandview Church of God in Odessa with Pastors Charles Sheffield and Tony Connors officiating.  Pallbearers will include:  Jackie Miller, Casey Miller, Jeff Carter, Lee Calvert, Bobby Calvert, and Fernando Gonzales.  A second funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the Chapel of Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, Alabama.  Pallbearers in Alabama will be:  James Houston, David Houston, Jessie Thurman, John Reynolds, Robert Magouyrk and Jeremy Magouyrk with Jeff Carter as an honorary pallbearer.  Interment will follow at Harpersville City Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa, TX and Radney-Smith Funeral Chapel of Sylacauga, AL.

Sheila Cathryn (Hunt) Whatley

Sheila Cathryn (Hunt) Whatley, age 46, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital.

Cathryn was born in Fort Stockton, Texas on May 25, 1960 to “Red” Clinton and Sheila Anne Hunt. She was employed as a Technician with Texas Instruments until the plant closed. She battled cancer for the past seventeen years.

Cathryn is survived by her son, Bo Dean Whatley and wife, Sharon, one granddaughter, Laney Sue Whatley, her parents, Red and Anne Hunt, three brothers, Dan Powers and wife, Tammy, Mike Powers and wife, Debbie and Clinton Ray Hunt and wife, Sabrina all of Odessa.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Whatley.

Visitation will be held Thursday and Friday, from 8 am to 8 pm at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Services are scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Chapman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, PO Box 4486, Houston, Texas, 77210-4486.

Kevin Martin Vickers

Kevin Martin Vickers, age 48, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2006 in Odessa. He was born April 23, 1958 in Iraan, TX to Don Vickers, Sr. and Vicki (Martin) Vickers. 

Kevin married Shirley Elaine Steen February 23, 1993 in Odessa.  He was a loving father and grandfather, known to the grandchildren as “Grandpa Kevin”. He loved children. He was a hard worker.  Kevin loved animals and spent much of his free time at the Ag farm.  He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing pranks and telling jokes.  He also enjoyed riding his Harley.  He was a member of the Living Word Church in Odessa.  He worked as a fishing tool consultant in the oilfield.

 Those left to cherish his love and memories include his wife:  Elaine Vickers of Odessa, TX; his father:  Don Vickers, Sr. and Shirley Vickers of Liberty Hill, TX; his mother:  Vicki Cashion of Odessa, TX; three sons:  Dylon Vickers and Josh Flowers, both of Odessa, TX, and Koby Flowers of Grand Junction, CO; two daughters:  Misty Carlisle of Odessa, TX  and  Keva Steen of Midland, TX and her mother, Ennisa Vickers; one brother:  Don Vickers, Jr. of Odessa, TX; four sisters:  Kim Vickers of Odessa, TX, Kimberly Howard of Cleveland, OH, Joni Collins and Sonja Grubb, both of Liberty Hill, TX; and six grandchildren:  Jesse, Bobbie, Dynver, Stevi, Johnathan, and Alexandra. 

Kevin was preceded in death by two brothers:  Trey Vickers and Dan Gaddy.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, September 18, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Reverend Freddy Steen officiating.  Pallbearers will include:  Charlie Renfro, Michael Voorhies, Eric Casrez, Koby Flowers, Josh Flowers, and Dylon Vickers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Edwards and Duane Steen.  Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.


Ramon Marquez

Ramon Marquez, age 84, of Odessa, passed away Friday, September 15, 2006, at Deering Nursing Home in Odessa. He was born August 13, 1922 in Vado de Piedra, Mexico to the late Francisco and Natividad (Yanez) Marquez.

He was a loving father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, who will be sorely missed.  He was a hard working farmer, who worked in agriculture all of his life.

Ramon is survived by six sons:  Juan Marquez, Martin Marquez, Concepcion Marquez, Jaime Marquez, Ruben Marquez, and Maurilio Marquez all of Odessa, TX; three daughters:  Maria Marquez of Dallas, TX, and Francisca Tarango and Christina Ramirez, both of Odessa, TX; one brother:  Manuel Marquez of Odessa, TX; twenty-three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anita Marquez on October 21, 1977.  Also preceding him in death was one son:  Alfredo Marquez.

A prayer service will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel.  Funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rosario Hill officiating.  Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa.

Maria Aurora Valles

Maria Aurora Valles, age 87, of Odessa, left this life Saturday, September 16, 2006, at Hospice House in Odessa. She entered this life Tuesday, November 12, 1918 in Monterey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.  She was the only child of Pedro and Agapita (Garza) Elizondo.  Maria was a retired school teacher.

Those left to cherish her love and memories include two sons:  Rodolfo Villareal and wife, Myra of Burns Flat, OK and Hector Villareal of San Antonio, TX; one daughter:  Gloria Ybarra of Odessa, TX; six grandchildren:  Johnathan, Lisa, Noemi, Miguel, Keith, and Todd; and thirteen great-grandchildren:  Christina, Felipe, Jr., Craig, Morgan, Kaylee, Blake, Justin, Zack, Sezar, Meadow, Emily, Marcus, and Ian.

Maria was preceded in death by her first husband, Alonzo Villareal, in 1990 and her second husband, Genaro Valles, in 1996.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul H. Clark officiating.  Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will include:  Felipe Zarata, Jr., Johnathan Villareal, Keith Villareal, Todd Villareal, Craig Villareal, and Sezar Venegas.  Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa

Mary Sue Huggins

Mary Sue Huggins, age 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Hospice House of Odessa. She was born Thursday, March 5, 1931 in Amherst, TX to the late Ted and Audrey (Padon) Long. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Roy A Huggins, Jr. She was a manager at Petro Truck Terminal in El Paso.

She is survived by one son:  Steven Riley of Midland, TX; two daughters:  Cheri Riley of Odessa, TX and Rhonda Riley of Santa Rosa, CA; one brother:  W.O. Long of Canyon, TX; eight grandchildren:  Tammy, Dollye, Roy B., Cheri Dee, Coy, Jeni, Trey, and Audrey; and four great-grandchildren:  Corey, Danielle, Isaac, and Caitlyn.

Mary was a hard worker who loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  She would knit when she had spare time.  She loved to dance.  She was a member of the Baptist Church.
